That was one of the advantages of getting older - ie people stopped making stupid remarks to me of "You'll change your mind" when I said I didnt want children.

For some years now - they've just taken a look at me and realised that I am too old to have children.:)

I never DID work out a suitably scathing comment for those who didnt have the brains enough not to make false assumptions about me...:rotfl:

I escaped the worst of those stupid comments - because I never got married. I can only imagine the level of pressure I would have come under if I had done so.... I think I would have darn soon changed from just thinking "What idiots! They're not very bright to automatically make such a conventional set of assumptions about me - rather than judging for themselves...." to turning around and telling them they were "blithering idiots" - unable to think for themselves:rotfl:(which is what I think probably would have done if I'd been under a "She's married - so lets start really pressurising her then...." viewpoint from none-too-bright others).

I've always taken the viewpoint of asking people what they want to do/plan to do in Life and have they got anything they are working towards - even though it often resulted in totally blank looks from many people. That way - they were free to tell me what their Plans were (if they had any) - whether that meant the conventional get married/have 2.4 children scenario or something else. At least I hadnt made any presumptions on their behalf that way....

Ah, yes, doing French homework by candlelight in the 70's. The skies were awesome.

I read a thorougly enjoyable book about Britain in the 70's called "When the Lights Went Out". As I was kinda busy doing exams, going to college and going to gigs, I took some notice of what was going on but needed to refresh my memory. If you've got a couple of days spare, I can recommend it.

I have just had a look at this after a heads up from the email I get from them. I like hot pockets.

Well this week has been really busy with dehydrating fruit and veg as well as making a bit of jam from some of the fruit and feezing some . I bought another 3 boxes for £4 (I got 3 for £3 at the weekend.
There was so much in them and it was all very ripe so had to be done quickly. Nearly finished now and I am shattered. My hands are permanently stained I think. I have four large jars of dried slice bananas, a jar of sliced carrots,a jar of shredded courgettes, and there are ten trays of shredded turnips drying at the moment. Aubergines shredded and waiting in plastic bags in the fridge, three tubs of cubed melon in the freezer, mashed banana, chopped peppers also in the freezer. Some mixed fruit softened and waiting in a bowl to be put in a pan to be made into jam. I can't remember anything else but I am sure I've missed something.

We also had a large piece of cooked pork given us by ddil so that has gone in the freezer for now.

We are going to Lincolnshire on our hols for two weeks on Saturday so want to clean the house before then. I will need the holiday.

    paidinchickens,
that was a very measured response to an utterly rude remark. Horrid man. I must admit I would probably have been very rude back.

The big chemical companies do not want you to know about diatomacious earth because they will not be making a big fat profit, same with the companies that say vitamins and minerals do not work.
