do not adjust your screens, it is this early in the morning, I am off to find the sticky!
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday, 25th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning Folks!!!
I have already been out this morning - took OH to the airport for his flight to Belfast, he will be skulking about the airport most of the day because of the timing of his flight home, poor soul, but hopefully it will be worth it and he will be coming back with a new job. Paid for employment, without as much uncertainty as self employment, would be a nice change for us, for now until the economy gets back on its feet.
So, I have hung a washing on the line and have bread proving, I may have to start getting up at five every morning, its lovely having the house to myself. Plan for the day? Ds2 has football camp this week again, so DS1 and I are at home, and may go shopping for some wedding stuff with my sister, I also need to sort out kilt hire this week for them all, and order buttonholes. twelve days to the big day! Super excited, and getting more emotional with each day that passes, BIL is looking well too, the best I have seen him in ages, although he is obviously completely exhausted. He will get a blood check tomorrow to see if his blood count is high enough for this week's dose of chemo.
Hope everyone has a good day, whether it is OS or not, take care of yourselves.

Good morning JackieG - and all who follow!
Ozzie cousins left for Paris yesterday. We had a brilliant five days with them - only wish it could have lasted longer. However, I woke up bright and early at 5am again! WM nearly finished so will be pegging out washing shortly. DH still snoring away - will take him tea and anniversary card later. We are off to see old friends for a couple of nights which should be fun. DS returns to London later - he has his big appointment with the consultant on Wednesday.
Need to start sorting boxes of paperwork today - I didn't get that done before the visit so it's sitting on our bedroom floor!
((HUGS)) to all in need of one today. Hope you enjoy today - take care.Resolution:

Good morning all.
jackieglasgow wow you're up early. Thanks for starting the thread.
beemuzed HAPPY ANNIVERSARY - hope you have a fab day. 41years is an amazing achievement x
Lovely news about the new drug therapy for Duchenne. It is not a cure, but it may make some improvement which would be fantastic. I had a friend who had this and he died at 24.
Beautiful morning here. Sun's shining, birds are singing and the forecast is good. Am going to search round for towels to give a good wash and get them out on the line.
Dinner here is pasta carbonara with added hg courgettes cut to the same size as the pancetta lardons.
Hugs to all those in need or who want them.
Happy Monday - if you are like me, enjoy the first day of the school holidays:)
Cheers m'dears, Silver x
PS I have lost all the THANKS buttons, so I can't thank you all:(Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning everyone
Overcast here this morning, hopefully the sun will get out later. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Boys up too, DS2 has a place at summer school for a week, just to help him before he starts senior school in September, he isn't that happy about going, but he does need this, so hoping after today he will realise how much it's going to help him. The boys are staying with MIL & FIL as I'm at work this week, so they will take him and collect him until Wednesday when I finish work. Lunch yesterday was roast beef, roast potatoes, veg, yorkshires and gravy. Dinner tonight will be for just myself and DH - not sure what we're having yet. Did the filling for the victoria sponge last night, so have a few brownies left, few mince pies, and a victoria sponge.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning everyone - been up since 5.00a.m. again. Washing machine has been on and finished! I am now showered though not dressed, sitting here wrapped in the bath towel as I potter.
Got to wait in for a special delivery packet which is due before 1.00p.m. - should have opted for before 09.00a.m. as I will be stir crazy by 1.00p.m.
Fridge almost empty but will go out later and restock with milk, eggs and veg for OH though I know I'll come back in two weeks to find the veg all withered and wilted. Least I tried.
Last night I used up all the eggs we had by making a huge portion of egg mayo. Had some for my evening meal last night and have had another portion for breakfast with one left for my lunch. Tonight we'll have Chinese takeaway which we missed on Friday cos I was up north.
I hope the sun shines on everyone today.0 -

Morning all
Lovely here, all the windows are open to let the fresh air in.
JACKIEG good news your BIL is looking a bit better, just love to see people in kilts, think they look so smart.
BEMUZZED Happy Anniversary
Big hugs today to anyone who wants one.
Not quite sure what I'm up to today, have some ironing to do and more tidying, might try and motivate myself to do some decorating or we might just disappear to the beach. So lucky I have the choice of 9 beautiful sandy beaches here, all within 5 minutes of each other and they've got rock pools. Might go crabbing.
Tea tonight is either chicken faitas (sp) or sausages, not quite sure yet.
Have a good day all

morning:j
Had a lovely weekend in Scarborough with DH and DS:D
couple of meltdowns as usual but only one big one. Just as we sat down to eat your fish and chips on the beach a massive seagull jumped up and grabbed DS`s whole fish and ran off with it:eek:. As you can imagine he was hysterical and it took us ages to calm him. It meant DH had to go back and buy him another fish and chips so it cost £26 for a fish and chip tea:p:eek: bloomin Harry ramsdens:cool:
He was soon laughing again and playing "run from the waves" with DH

It is hard work going away with DS to a hotel even for overnight....breakfast wasnt right so we went to a cafe instead so he could have a sausage bap...still wasnt right, something different about the bread and sausage wasnt the same as the ones at home;) ...so went to another cafe on seafront and he had a drink and choc muffin...still not right:p so he ended up with a kitkat:o
We also went to Peasholm park which was lovely but he was freaked out by the silver toilets so we had to take him away:o
Thank heavens we are at the cottage for hols next week with our own food etc:D
Today DS wants to do handwashing in the sink this morning and make cookies and cakes later on!
Spaghetti and meatballs for tea later.
I also have some rhubarb from my veg box that i need to do something with!
Happy Anniversary to Mr and mrs Beemuzed:T
Sistercas...I nearly got up and slept on sofa last night as DH was grinding his teeth so loudly it kept waking me up! Am sure that is why he gets migraines sometimes:cool:0 -
Morning All!
beemuzed Happy Anniversary, hope it's lovely!:j
Rotten headache again, think my MS is going into another relapse:o
I now help out in our local Hospice shop Mondays, and we are having an official opening by the Mayor today, so off in a minute.
Only 4 weeks to go till DD's wedding:eek: Everything done now thank goodness.
DGD is still not walking, she has got to the point of one hand, so she has 4 weeks to get it right! Her Dad says that he will decorate her trike otherwise and we can push her down the aisle:rotfl:
My garden is looking fantastic. Had runner beans, and carrots for dinner yesterday. Potatoes are nearly there, got my first tomatoes too! Nothing better than straight out of the ground and into the pot.
Hope everyone has a great day!
I Believe in saving money!!!:T
