Hi anna, welcome to the thread. You’re wedding looks amazing and lucky you to be able to escape the unpredictable English weather. I couldn’t give any advice about rings, have you asked on the main wedding board as someone on there may have a better idea.
Hi Frances, we’re date twins, 31 days to go
Glad you had a lovely time in Spain, Laura and I’m so glad your dress is finally sorted, you must be so relieved.
I Agree with you Pinzy, underwear on show is a big no no, especially on your wedding day. What are your wedding trainers like?
I’m excited and anxious and everything between. I can’t wait to call OH husband and wear my wedding ring but I’m dreading walking down the aisle. I’ve also been having weird dreams so far I’ve dreamt my dress is too short and the size of a tent, we get lost so we can’t get married as we’re too late, we get there and no one else is there because they forgot and I forget that it’s the wedding day and I have to go in my jeans .
OH is working most weekends between now and the wedding and since I’m working during the week it seems that paying the balances and having the final meetings is down to me.
I had a meeting with our coordinator on Saturday and paid a lump off the balance. She’s letting us use loads of stuff for free (cake stand, wishing well, mirrors for the tables, mirror for the table plan, fish bowls for the top tables and loads of little bits and pieces that will be a surprise on the day) that they would normally charge for. She’s also gave us table linen for free too. We have another meeting 2 weeks before the wedding just to confirm numbers.
I have completed around ¾ of the name cards and favours and have done the seating arrangement just need to print it off.
Got the kids dress fittings this weekend, my sister and my niece have had theirs, then there’s just my cousins from America to have theirs when they arrive and then the bill to pay.
The only gifts left to get is a bottle of vodka for my dad and a bottle of JD and a bottle of vodka to go in the hip flasks. I got OH a personalised hip flask and his new watch. I also need to get his and my dad’s watch straps shortened.
We’ve decided what will happen the night before the wedding and who will be staying where. I won’t be staying at my mum and dad’s as my 2 cousins and their friend are staying at mine so my sister and niece are coming to stay at mine too so including my daughter and I there will be 7 of us. OH is going to stay at one of his friends for the night and then will come home to get ready once we’ve left on the morning. I think we’ll just be having a few drinks, a takeaway and get our nails done. Just need to decide if I’m going to put the cats in the cattery from the Friday to the Sunday or keep them at home. OH wants them at home but part of me thinks it will be best to put them in for a few days so they don’t get let out or get in the way, the other part of me wants them at home as they’ve never stayed away from home and I don’t know how they/I would cope. What’s everyone else doing the night before?
My up to date list but I’m sure I have forgotten something:
Kids and cousins dress fittings (pay balance once last fitting is done)
Meeting and pay balance for cars
Drop off fruit cake and pay balance for sponge cake/icing fruit cake
Final reception meeting and pay off bablance
Ceremony play list on iPod (if i ever find out if we can have highway to hell)
Buy vodka and JD
Finish place cards and table plan
Finish favours
Deliver buttonholes for family and corsage for Gran
Buy nude tights for oldest daughter (they are so hard to find for kids)
Attend hen do
Sort out timings (have a schedule but need to make sure it’s realistic)
Sort out where men are being picked up from
Sort out nail and eyelash appointments (friend knows when they want doing but need to confirm timings closer to the date)
Meet photographer and pay final balance
Pay coach balance
Pay nail etc, hair balances0 -
:)Glad to see it busier on here
.
Frances - your venue looks gorgeous! Enjoy your hen do this weekend.
Pinzy - yay for the dress being fabulous. I am sure they will sort out the underwear problem, not a great look!
Lisajane - I haven't had any wedding related anxiety dreams yet but am starting to think about it every second so i'm sure they will come soon!
That is lovely of your venue to let you use all that for free.
The night before i am staying at my parents. My sister is being nice and letting my little girl have her own room (rather than sharing with me) so she doesn't keep me up all night and she is going to sleep in the lounge. We might have some family over as my mums family are travelling quite a way and hopefully have my best friend over (who is coming over from australia).
We should make a list of all our dates so we can count down0 -
As Pinzy that's really really considerate of you about not mentioning the dress, I really wouldn't have minded but thank you. I hope the next meeting with your seamstress goes well! And I totally agree about the to do list getting longer-at the moment it feels like one thing crossed off, then another two added!!
Frances-Tewin Bury seems very familiar to me, I think I might have been to a do there a few years ago-if it's where I'm thinking it's a great place to have a wedding! Hope you have a great hen do, and come back and let us know what happened!
Lisa-i had a random wedding dream a few months ago, but nothing since, and can't even remember what that one was now!! That's really good news about the meeting with the wedding coordinator.
The night before the wedding I am staying at my parents, and OH will probably stay with my brother (they work together and its my brother who introduced us) at my brothers flat. We live about 30/40 minutes away from Oxford, where we are getting married, so decided we'd stay with people there. My parents also have a cat (technically she's mine but I'd never have been able to drag her away from my dad!) and we aren't quite sure what will happen with her on the morning... she has missed a few vaccinations and isn't insured now, so we won't be able to put her into a cattery. She is a lazy but very friendly ginger and moults EVERYWHERE so will be a nightmare on the day!
I have seen a few things in newspapers lately and have discovered a new term which I think describes me- 'bridechilla' as opposed to bridezilla - at the moment I'm worried I'm being too relaxed about things, but a lot of friends have said how calm I've been over the whole wedding planning, even with the whole dress thing!! I still don't think it's hit me that we are getting married in just over 6 weeks. A few of the guests have been saying how excited they are about the wedding, but I'm just not feeling it at the moment!! I'm hoping hen do number 2 next weekend will help that!!
OH had his main stag do the same weekend I went to Spain, he had a good time... apart from one arrest, one hospital admission, one vomiting in crash helmet whilst go karting incident and one forgotten ID for an internal UK flight! Thankfully none of these events were him! He's also having drinks in Oxford while I'm on my hen next weekend in Bath, with the people who couldn't make it to the other one. Hopefully that won't be as eventful!!!
Ok Wend, my date for the list is 20th July - which I think is 45 days to go! 6 weeks Saturday!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -

Lots of July 6th Brides
.
That is good you are feeling chilled Laura. I feel like i should feel more stressed, Still got quite a bit of DIY type stuff to do. Well done to your OH for looking after himself on his stag do!
I forgot about my mums cats and getting ready! They may be going to cattery anyway as my mum and dad are coming on honeymoon (to help look after our little girl) so they will be going in on the monday anyway.
Ordered the flowergirl shoes at lunch. Debenhams have 25% off designers and found another code for another 10% off.0 -
We had quite a productive day today. Met with the chef at our venue, who is also my dad's boss. We confirmed the menu choices and discussed the evening buffet and welcome and bar drinks. I have been wondering lately if we've done the right thing by having our reception where my dad works, but it's been really nice to see how his colleagues feel about him - the chef said that people have been ordering new table linen and things so everything is perfect on the day, and sorting out the best people to work, and we are getting a very good deal on the food. Dad has taken the whole week before the wedding off work so he doesn't have to deal with any of the prep going into the reception, which is good.
We met with the florist today to confirm things, and he made a mock up of our table flowers which is now sat on our dining table. We have changed a couple of things slightly and are also hiring bay trees for the ceremony, which we will try to move to the reception venue!
We also went shopping, OH decided he needs a whole new summer wardrobe for the honeymoon, and a new wardrobe he has! He normally hates shopping with a passion but a trip into town in the morning while it was quiet was really good and we ended up having a really nice day. Mum came to meet us for the florist appointment and we bought our jewellery while she was in town too, which is the final part of my outfit
We are still yet to decide on our first dance, but this is one of our priorities for this weekend.
Here's our current to do list:
Choose first dance
Finalise timings for the day
Send dress cuttings to florist
Book manicures
Buy a few more honeymoon clothes
Buy currency for honeymoon
Pay final balances
Buy my mum a gift
Organise delivery of gift list
Make table plan and write place cards
And anything else I've forgotten!!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -

Don't know how i managed that Pinzy, have amended now!
Laura - sounds like your venue are really lovely and your dad is appreciated there.
We are also having bay trees which we are hiring from our venue, they look good.
All these meetings help you feel like they are getting somewhere don't they.
I haven't really got much done this weekend. Starting to get a bit panicked now it is so close so have done a list by week to help me a bit. I have ordered a few bits for kids goody bags, going to try and finish getting things for these this week.0 -
Really worried about this singing plan at our civil ceremony. It appears that gospel singers are quite out of our budget, though the OH seems happy to spend about £500 on them. One of the singing groups I spoke to said that it's best to have a musician so that everyone starts in the same key, I didn't think that was necessary but me and OH practised last night starting a song at the same time and we were both in completely different keys, so I see what the singing group means (though it was quite hilarious). We've tried looking for local groups to no avail.
So if we don't have singers, we should really have some sort of karaoke version on a CD or summat, but then who presses the button? The registrar forms says that they won't select specific tracks on a CD for specific parts of the ceremony. If we did get a couple of singers the OH would like them to be a surprise, and start walking down the aisle singing "love love love" for the start of All You Need Is Love, but who would signal them?
The other concern is that we're meant to be on a budget but guests will be thinking "well they've got more money to splash than we thought", which we haven't, at all. It just seems to be an obvious extravagance, but the OH has got his heart set on it.
We were thinking to sing All You Need Is Love, and It's A Wonderful World, but wonderful world is really quite slow.
And of course I'm worried that people won't sing.
Alternatively we junk the whole idea, but then we've got to pick a couple of readings before our registrar meeting on Wednesday. I just don't know what to do.0
