    Morning all

Had another good night's sleep and a cuppa in bed while looking at messages. :D

Time to get going now and make some breakfast before starting on laundry and the kitchen. NNs are back from holiday so I hope that DS2 will have a playmate later. I'm also waiting for DS1 to get up to see when I'll be hospital visiting later - unless NNs will look after his brother for me.

Can I ask for views, please? MIL looked after DS2 (7) yesterday, while I went to the hospital. (She couldn't come because the visiting times and her dog walking times coincide.) She left DS2 on his own, watching TV, while she took the dog for a short walk. Two of my friends thought that was unacceptable and I wasn't best pleased, either. Am I overreacting?

I can just see some sunshine through the blinds and I'm hungry, so I'll 'see' you later. Have a lovely Sunday, everyone. x

    MrsC - I wouldn't be happy either.

Two loads of washing done and out on the line. Some socks matched *yawns*

Need to find the electicity monitor so that everyone else can see what they are wasting when they leave the TV on all day, and to stop me from using the TD.

Today I must renew the car breakdown stuff, remind DH to do get a photo and the mileage for the bike, and list some stuff on e-bay for the first time ever.

how long was she gone for and is DS a youngish or more mature 7 year old?

if he is on the more mature side and she just has a wee dog that needs a quick 10 mins round the block then IMO i think thats ok but if she was gone over a hour then no its not ok.

why didnt she take him with her?

Mrs C I dont know, i think its acceptable as long as DS is a responsible and mature 7yr old, like Gilly said if its a quick 10 min walk id be fine with it, but it it was longer than say half an hour i dont think i would be.

I was left on my own at that age for breif time periods whilst mum went to the shop or she sent me and i had to cross a main road to get to the shop, so i know times have changed but when is it going to be ok to leave him alone for breif periods of time. i know its not ok to leave kids for say a whole day, but breif periods of time depending on the childs maturity im fine with.

Thanks for the input. He is quite sensible, but still only 7 and that makes it illegal, I believe. It was only a very short walk, but MIL is not the youngest and doesn't take her phone with her.

I'm with pigpen, I'm afraid. She seems to be losing the ability to make sensible decisions where the dog is concerned. I know he's old and unwell, but I'd have made the dog wait or DS2 come with me. Fortunately I have a few other options, as I can't take him with me to the hospital.
