How sad ... :(

From a sticky at the top of this board:Hi everyone!
Over recent years this board's evolved from just purely MoneySaving to something a bit more.
Many people come here now for help with other areas that aren't strictly MoneySaving.
While we used to be quite strict on it, we find even if people are on here discussing other non-MoneySaving issues it means they're still hopefully using the MoneySaving parts of it alongside.
So we've updated our Forum Rules to explain that some boards, including this one, do sometimes divert from the subject. The new section's here:
Why are there some non-MoneySaving posts on some boards?
This thread is clearly not moneysaving and has nothing to do with marriages, families and relationships either.
I'm sure lots of people are discussing this in the Arms or Discussion Time boards where - imho - it belongs.0 -
Was more an observation of how most people think and where there sympathies go.
I have had a close family member die through drug and alcohol abuse and even then I had no sympathy. For there mother/father yes, for the person, none.
I think that's really sad, sorry. Glad you're not my 'close' family member.
People are so judgemental!!
Poor Amy - brilliant talent, caught in the trap that affects so many creative people. It ruins some, it strengthens others. Known many like her and known them go both ways.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

I agree but then so does most of the threads on the families page any more. Not communicating with OHs over cleaning, affairs, computer use etc etc (the avoiding expense of divorce argument is pretty weak as most users tell people to leave anyway!!), arguments with friends, awkward situations etc etc....
Maybe I am just bitter my happy thread got moved and all the misery threads get to stay :rotfl:Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

Its very sad that she has passed away, and her family must be very distraught.
However, I cant help thinking that she has been given more oppoutunities to better herself than most, it seems like she was always in ans out of rehab, and always being pictured looking 'healthier' one minute and 'dishevelled' the next.
Maybe, this was just her path of life and nothing was going to change that, I wonder if she hadnt made millions where she would have ended up.
Its a sad situation, as is the Norway one.Little Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Agree as well. I think the new sticky was a mistake and a purely families without the moneysaving subform should have been created instead.
I'm afraid I feel nothing about Amy Winehouse, sad for her parents but she was in a very privileged position with all the help available. I have a recently diagnosed, terminally ill friend and that is where my sadness and anger is.
Darlyd, how are your daughter and yourself? I notice you haven't updated your recent thread which is a shame because I thought you had some really good advice and it could be a really good support in helping you and your daughter .0 -

But I can sympathise/empathise or disagree with real (or at least usually real apart from a few stupid trolls who pop up to amuse themselves) people who are having real difficulties with partners, familes, children etc.
Amy Winehouse was a 'star' who couldn't handle her life and fame and was, just like a lot of similar famous people e.g. Janis Joplin & Curt Cobain, destined to die young from their own inability to cope with the privileged lifestyle that their talent had thrust upon them.
I'd rather see posts on this particular board about those real people who are struggling to cope because of debt problems, their OH's suspected or real infedility than Amy Winehouse.
Plenty of views here (on the Discussion Time board):

To be honest I also have no idea what has gone on in Norway. Haven't seen the news or read a paper for a few days, been that busy with end of term garb!!!!!!
I never knew anything about Norway either, My friend just text me about Amy.
WOW RIP all them that were murdered.
What a horrible evil world we live in! :mad:0 -

I would say about 1% of the threads on this particular board involve anything to do with debt whatsoever. I have even seen threads lately about why am I not happy I am so rich and have everything. It makes me wonder how these OPs come across this site in the first place.
And Kurt is with a K but I don't think you will care :rotfl:Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

Ok, maybe saying debt problems was not such a good example as there is a DFW board where most people who have debt issues post.
But there are still many, many threads about personal issues such as infedilty, pregnancy, problems in conceiving, trouble with ex's, aging parents and care home queries etc etc.LegalBlonde wrote: »Maybe I am just bitter my happy thread got moved and all the misery threads get to stay :rotfl:LegalBlonde wrote: »And Kurt is with a K but I don't think you will care :rotfl:
On the contrary, thank you so much for pointing out my mistake.
I am indebted to you and very flattered that you paid so much attention to my post.
Please feel free to critique all my other posts should that make you happy (and less bitter).
