No. If you leave your job, that will not make you a priority. You will just be in a worse position than you are now.If i leave my 13k year job i will be on top council priority list with free house ; get more financial help . Being hard working person like me don't get any help in this country? All london borough private house rent is very very high because many people get money from government to pay the rent.people with 30k to 50k year job took most affordable rent with new build houses from housing association in london.
Do you realise how hard it is to get council accomodation even when you are a priority, especially in London.0 -
In London people who considered priority cases usually get put in grotty B&B or hostel accomodation (for a long time) before they get rehoused. Also most available council housing in Londonis so awful you really would have to be desperate to want to live in it. Most of the decent housing was sold off years ago.0

My pregnant partner suffering from nausea frequently because of the house condition not fresh air when i used my cooker according to my gp .i paid each month 70pounds council tax plus 500pounds rent exclusive electricity. Im working full time with very low income 13000 pounds a years.i asked my council if they can rehouse me because of my wife health condition they turn me down my application. Im british citizen always working.any advice ?what to do next?
The council are not legally required to house you whilst you have a roof over your head and if you are homeless, they only have to offer bed and breakfast. You will be put on a list and you are not a priority as you are working and can rent privately.
The only reason you are living in a crap hole is because YOU CHOOSE TO. In short, you are responsible for the situation you are in. If you don't like it, you are free to go find somewhere better to rent.0 -
Crisis loans will not be given for rent deposits. Got anything you can sell? Help from family? You could try contacting your local council to see if they run a rent deposit scheme. Hit Google and try and find some help yourself instead of putting badly written posts on here. I had a quick look and found quite a lot of help and advice in five minutes.0

I had a friend who was on the council housing waiting list in Hackney for eight years, when she rang up and asked what were her chances of being housed they just laughed down the phone.0

For a British citizen, the OP has very poor sentence structure.
As his wife doesn't qualify for any benefits because she is on a visa, does this mean that the OP can get CB and CTC for the child once it is born? I assume so, as the father is a British citizen, but presumably it will have to be claimed in his name, not his wife's.0 -
The OP could have obtained British citizenship but not been born here or have English as his first language. Or could be a British citizen by default, having British parents, but not having spent his whole life in this country. He's not asking for English lessons or assistance with sentence construction!
OP - the one post I will agree with is what on EARTH are you doing bringing a child into this situation?! And being 6 months pregnant is not a valid reason not to work - pregnancy is not an illness! If you partner doesn't work there will be no maternity pay... how will you manage?! And if your partner is on a visa, how much longer can she legally stay in this country?
If the council can't help you, do you have any family who might be able to help? Or can you approach local housing authorities? Is your job one that is easily moveable... i.e. could you do the same job in a cheaper part of the country and get a bigger home on a lower rent? I wish you luck.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
