Sometimes I buy a whole chicken, fillet it and get 2 breasts, then slice and dice the thigh and drumstick meat. The rest of the chicken gets cooked into stock/soup immediately and the rest gets used up as fresh chicken. Not quite rubber chicken but it's much cheaper to buy a whole chicken.

I loved the idea of it, hence the reason I decided to give it a go. Alas it seems it was not for me. A shame as I do like frugal cooking!

Thanks for some of the ideas :)

That is a shame! :( As you've decided it's not for you, I'll add your thread to the main rubber chicken thread so that others reading about rubber chicken may benefit from the helpful replies posted on this thread. :)

If you turn your chicken upside down there is so much white meat on the underside. I'm afraid I used to waste it for years as I didn't realize!

Sometimes I do this too especially when I fancy Tandoori chicken. I use the 4 'joints' for Tandoori, scored, marinaded and then done in the oven/Halogen. The chicken breasts can be used for grilling/curry/stir fry and the carcass used for stock or for a thick nutricious soup together with veg and pulses.

I usually use a pair of large sturdy scissors for jointing a chicken. This is another effective way of stretching a chicken and would work for those that do not like reheated cooked chicken.

I read in a very long thread sometime ago (forget which one) about rubber chicken. Someone asked what it was and someone replied how they used 1 chicken over several days and meals. I cant find it now so can anyone explain rubber chicken to me again please. The person said differant meals they used it for.
    Thanks

We eat the roast chicken. I then strip all the meat which I then use in pasta sauce, curry or pie. Some may be used for sandwiches. I then make stock and soup from the bones :)

The thread you're looking for is here; I'll add this one later.
