We bought one yesterday from M&S with some money I'd been given.
It cost about £7.80.
There's only me and hubby, we had a thigh each with a bit of sliced breast last night, with spuds veg and gravy made with with the juices.
Then today we'll have a drumstick each with a bit of breast.
That leaves what I call 'the bit' - i.e. the wings, the 'eyes, and the scraps of meat that will be leftover to use on Monday..
So I'd like to use them up but don't really know what to do with them, we don't eat curry.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Hi Barneysmum,
How about a chicken and veg pie?
HTH
LGworking hard at this thing called life0 -
I would strip the carcass, roast and boil the bones for stock and make a nice soup. If you chuck in the meat scraps at the end it should be lovely and meaty and will be a meal in itself.0

Thank you, I do like the sound of the soup, I don't think there's enough to do a pie, but I'll do one next time, very filling.
I'll do soup, yes, lovely?! :TI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Chuck a pack of chicken flavoured instant noodle into the soup, as well as the leftover meat.
Makes it a bit more filling.

Can I do that, I'd prefer rice in it, pasta puts gluten in the gravy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Just chuck the rice in as you make the soup, no need to pre-cook. Or add some split peas or red lentils which will also make it more substantial.
If you really strip carcass before you make stock I'm sure you'd be amazed at how much meat you would have. If you make stock, before using most of stock for soup, keep some stock back for chicken risotto - would give it a lovely flavour. Chicken & mushroom risotto  , yummy!
I know you said you don't eat curry, but IMHO that would be a waste anyway - Oakham chicken is lovely & flavour would be masked by curry.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thanks gallygirl, we used the juices that came from the bird last night to make the gravy ansd it was heaven, honest it was beautiful.
That darn chicken keeps calling 'eat me' from the fridgeI already had a chicken sandwich for breakfast
we;'re having chicken for lunch todya, and what's left will all go in the big bosh pan, with loads of carrot, mushroom, onions, some rice and some (dried) herbs and seasoning and that'll be tomorrow's tea with HM bread rolls.
I can see me buying another very soon.
would the Tesco's ones which are a bit cheaper, have the same beautiful flavour do you think?
I've had chicken a million times before, but not like this one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
