Too frightened to leave neg feedback in case it's reciprocated

Snooze control I think we may need to agree to differ. I am proud of my feedback, some of the positives I have are wonderful and yes i do go out of my way to help my buyers resolve problems wherever possible.

My point on this thread has always been that actually not getting feedback is not a bother to me, if I don't get it I don't get it, so what. Even where I have left feedback I don't lose sleep if it isn't returned.

If my feedback rating dropped to an unacceptable level then I would just assume I was doing something wrong and either set out to resolve whatever issue there was, or give up ebay.

Yes, I believe we do have significantly different view points! That aside, we both appear to be successful Ebay seller's in our own little ways, so I am happy to agree to differ on this one!

..Honestly, would 'any' seller leave positive feedback blind for a new buyer?.
    I do.

Frankly I think the game of “who blinks first” on feedback is a bit pathetic, regardless of the status of the other party. I thought you had to be a grown up of 18 and over to have an ebay account.:D

I leave feedback as soon as I am satisfied with the sale or purchase. If the other party then leaves negative or neutral I have the opportunity to respond. Fortunately that has not yet happened, although I have only done a little over 200 trades so far.

    This is being discussed here,

and has probably been endlessly discussed prior to me joining these boards.

I find that is a very strange attitude to have. The majority of my business on Ebay is as a seller and I NEVER wait for feedback from the buyer before leaving mine. I think it's a pathetic way of doing things and very childish. Like you, I've had my share of buyer's who you either just can't please no matter what you do or simply don't understand how the system works, but that's life - you just get on with it…
Despite your usual robust way with words, I actually agree with you on this one.

Are you going to post your ebay id so I can avoid your auctions?:D

:D No! Too many do-gooders on here who would jump at the chance of dobbing me in to the IR because they reckon I should be contributing to Gordon Brown's pie fund! :rotfl:

Reason I dont leave negatives first is because only too often you get it left back and next thing you know they are unregistered users. So they leave you with bad record and get away scot free!
  • okay this is what happened to me

i bought keepfit dvd from ebay but it it didnt work when i put it in the dvd player and it was a copy (which wouldnt have been so bad it it had worked!)

i emailed the person selling it before leaving negs feedback and she sent me another copy which didnt work and was like the other one.

so i had to leave negs feedback (which i must say i hate doing) then i got a followup statment from her saying something like i was crafty about wanting 2 4 1 ! anbelivable! lol

My experience too. I have sold some fab items for real bargain prices - and still has a neg because the parcel was delayed by Royal Mail.

maybe the buyer should be asked to leave feedback first - as they are the ones "paying" for the service & product. Then the seller must leave feedback - if they ignore this - then they are unable to list further items after a period of time?

    Just a thought.

my suggestion? if you are bothered about the neg, email her asking to withdraw the feedback. in that same email mention the fact she is selling copies (against ebay rules) & you intend to report her if it is not settled to your satisfaction
