Too frightened to leave neg feedback in case it's reciprocated

  • Strange how so many people are finicky about it  . It's never bothered me as the majority of stuff I sell is BIN and goes like hot cakes but all the same, I never scrimp on customer service. However, there are always a small amount of buyer's that you just can't please no matter what you do and if I've done nothing wrong and they're blatently taking the p*ss then I won't pander to them just to keep a 100% score, they'll get neg'd.

I personally think that the members with 4-figure feedback scores on here are either talking sh*te when they say they've got 100% feedbacks or they've gone stupidly out of their way to please non-pleasing members and probably given stuff away just to keep their feedback scores. I'll bet that they are the same members who have never left the buyer a negative either, because as sure as eggs are eggs, you'll get a negative back whenever you leave one. As a 5-figure feedback score member myself I know only too well that there are some members that you just can't win with.

The replies so far just prove that the majority of you are scared silly of being left reciprocal negative when you've received crap service from the OP. Sad, really sad.

  • snooze control - you say you 'never scrimp on customer service'. 46 negs in 12 months? 4 negs a month average? with all due respect, i think that something 'customer service' based maybe missing in your ebay operation.
  • BIN?

    BN=Brand New, but BIN?

Let me tell you, mate, that I have four figure feedback, 100% positive, only ever had one neutral, over 6 months ago.

I havent 'given stuff away', nor gone 'stupidly out of my way' to maintain it. I have a very simple philosophy: I treat people in the same way as I would like to be treated myself.

    Perhaps you could try it?

BTW if the way you communicate on here is any indication of how you treat your buyers, I am astonished that you feedback is as good as 96.7%

  • I've got 46 negatives over the past 12 months (4700+ positives) and out of those I honestly say that only 6 of them were my fault from when I posted wrong items (twice) and the other 4 from when I was laid up in bed with 'flu. My overall feedback score is 96.7%.
why were 36 other buyers not happy with the service/product they got?
  • Personally I've never had any problems either with buying or selling on ebay. I keep in touch with the purchaser/seller by email until the transaction is complete.
I purchased an item at Christmas from a power seller, and the day after I sent a cheque I received an email from ebay saying not to have any dealings with the seller, that they were banned from future selling etc. etc. It would have cost £10 for me to cancel my cheque, so I emailed the seller instead and told them about the message from ebay (this turned out to be bogus). The seller received the payment and I received my goods - positive feedback given. It's worth emailing each other to sort any 'problems' rather than just give negative feedback I think.

Might be an idea to actually post a link to your negative feedback. I have a 99.6% score with 516 positive and 2 negative.

My 2 negatives were 1 as a seller and 1 as a buyer and they were both retaliatory (the buying neg was the result of a seller who could not take a neutral for bad service. The selling neg was the result of a non-paying bidder retaliating).

    The usual stuff :

    1. "My son/daughter/baby/dog/cat/gerbil bid in error and I no longer want the item"
    2. "Paypal says the amount has been paid so where is my item?" Paypal disagrees!
    3. "My item hasn't arrived". Royal Mail disagrees and has a signature!
    5. "My item arrived broken due to insufficient packaging" which I know is a complete lie because I use like 39 layers of bubble wrap on everything as well as polystyrene chunks and work in distribution myself so know just how much parcels get chucked about.
    4. "I sent cash/cheque by 1st class post, you're conning me so I'm going to report you to Ebay" etc etc

In fairness though, the vast majority of the negs are from newbie buyers with little or no feedback who are probably trying it on. I've always given the newbie's the benefit of the doubt because we've all had to start at zero but maybe I should start vetting them before allowing their bids in future to avoid the neg they leave when they don't get their own way.

Re the 46 negs, it's actually only a fraction over 1% of my feedback score for the past 12 months which you don't seem to be realising. Hardly the crime of the century is it! It's nothing to worry about though because most of you folks don't read feedback before bidding anyway judging by the threads on here! :rotfl:

Clearly you're talking out of your !!!! because any Ebayer with a 4-figure feedback score would know what BIN means.

I'm one of the 4 figure sellers with 100% feedback on my main ID. Yes I do leave negs, several in the past year but my flakey buyers tend to be really bad so they tend to have messed others around as well so they either get suspended as soon as I go through the NPB or they do not reply to the NPB and therefore can't leave a neg.

I rarely have problems with people on a one off basis that I can't deal with to a mutual conclusion.

I do have one neg on a minor id (ony 800 on that id) and that was a retaliatory on a neg left for an NPB.

I might also be in line for a neg on one of my very new buying ids as well as I am in the process of doing a chargeback for non receipt and the seller is one of those power sellers who still doesn't understand how ebay and paypal work. His only response to the paypal chargeback so far has been to say it isn't his fault item didn't arrive as I did not ask to pay extra for insurance. Yeah right...
