But that will give him one less excuse to get a job/find a council home/be accountable for himself.0 -

I am going to go out on a whim here. I want to leave home so I can live full time, I applied for housing help because yeah things at home with my family are rocky ,they are against me transitioning because they do not want me to throw my life away. according to them that is what I am doing by living as a woman
I do not think I can count on getting housing ,I could rent a place but so many with no dss, then the ones that you can get are like £500 or £600 a month.
I could die from just taking the hormones alone but I do not really care about dying.
If all goes well next month I can go and get treatment and in 3 or more months time I may be on hormones "Yay".
My family and I don't see eye to eye but who knows in time things could be different.
Hi Kent, I've cropped the quote just to the relevant bits that I want to discuss with you....
I absolutly understand where you are coming from with the lack of family support, its horrible thinking that those who should support you come what may might not.
I found myself a half decent job with a wage that should be livable but ended up spending two years commuting to it before I could find somewhere to live away from the parents - rents here are not dissimilar. My saviour was a website called easyroommate and I've found myself a lovely little room lodging with a lady and her dog for significantly less than the average price round here - but even with a reasonable job its all that I can afford.
In Brighton if you can demonstrate that you are transgendered and have concerns you can (not nessecarily will) be placed higher up the rankings for council housing, speak to the CAB, speak to your doctor and see if theres anything they can reccomend.
From your statement about it being 3 months till Hormones, may I assume you are following the NHS path for transition? In which case its very very unlikely that you will be prescribed hormones unless you are able to demonstrate that you are living full time in a female role and although you have changed your name, it doesn't sound like you are - and whilst its true that the taking of hormones carries risks (just like any medications) the risks are actually pretty small if taken as prescribed and monitored by a competant endocrinologist. I'm guessing that being in Kent you will be being looked after by CX? Dr Seal, the consultant endocrinologist there has a very good reputation. Saying you may die by taking them, whilst accurate, is very over dramatic.
As for the employment situation, may I suggest that you check out the stonewall equality index listings? Whilst stonewall don't deal with TS if an employer is highly ranked for how they treat their LGB staff there is a very good chance that they will treat the T well too. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that you revert back to your previous name and title, but it does sound like you made that change a little prematurely - I would suggest that you ensure that you have a suitable wardrobe to attend interviews in a female guise - wigs etc if nessecary, and if you feel you need to explain the situation.
There are lots of trans resources out there, I'm sure you've come across them already but do have a look at www.gires.co.uk which has loads of useful info.
I apologise if I've made any incorrect assumptions, but I'm hoping that some of what I've said might be useful to you.Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0
