What a cheek! It really pi**es me off when other people think they have the right to comment on the contents of others shopping trolleys! I would have told her that you could afford to buy DS games because of supermarkets being stupid enough to over order and then having to reduce :D

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

    Welcome to tink1981

I popped to John Lewis very early this morning - I was waiting outside when it opened . The main plan was to get a present for friends that we're seeing tomorrow night. I'd got it in my mind what I was getting them (a Visitor's book for their new house) and I actually found one at half price :j :j. I'm a bit annoyed because I got one for other friends that we're seeing tomorrow, but I'd bought theirs before Christmas - AT FULL PRICE. However, I wasn't to know that they were going on sale....... I also got a few new pillowcases and sheet in the John Lewis sale.

I popped into Lakeland, which is always a treat for me. My brother phoned me up whilst he was doing his Christmas shopping and asked me what I wanted as a present. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I said "Lakeland vouchers" :p. He was ultra-generous with them because he couldn't believe how easy it was to buy vouchers! I'm thinking that vouchers may now become his gift of choice when buying for me..... not that I'm complaining as it gives me a good excuse to go shopping and spend money on ME! :D

That said, I'm getting a bit fed up of scrimping and saving. :( I don't know how I'd keep up the momentum without you lot. It really gets me down and every now and again I just want to spend loads!:o However, I don't have loads........ it's one of those vicious circles. I suppose I'll be better off when I pay off my car this next year - but in the meantime, I don't have much money to add to the pot because of the lack of work over Christmas. Argh! I'm just a bit down at the moment, as is DH because he's fed up of his work. Anyway, sorry for that whinge. I'm lucky to have a supportive group of family and friends - both real and virtual! :p

On with the moneysaving. I'm having a look through the online shops for birthday and Christmas presents for the coming year. I also need to have a re-jig of the meal plan for the forthcoming week. I'm hoping that I won't need to buy any food other than a little bit of fruit and milk until the following week. :) That will help our moneysaving as we overspent before Christmas.

Take care everyone. See you later

Vicky I am sure you will feel better after Christmas hype is over, all the sales are finished etc, I wasn't a saver before, actually probably a spendaholic, but now I find it hard to spend money now I do have some spare. Quite strange as when I was in debt and couldn't afford it all I wanted to do was spend. Think it might be a psychological thing. The vouchers is a good idea, that way you get to go out, buy what you genuinely like and not spend any of your money :) whilst still letting out some of the 'need to shop' person in you.

Just had to put the gas fire on in here for the first time since January, I did dust it first, *coughs* what a smell is coming from it. Wouldn't have if the children were out of course but it's the holidays and they are cold.

Pooky, I would have complained aswell, how dare they comment on what you buy!
One day I might be more organised...........

OK, I think we may have to find another branch of B&Q if we are going to have an OS, errrrrr, "get together" is the phrase I am looking for I think? Coz my local one is not quite up to par :p . However, the local Mr T's is sometimes another matter altogether ;)

Right, I'm just back from Lidl with not a lot, must check out peoples views on their strong white bread and plain flours, they are certainly the cheapest I have seen round here but no point getting them unless they work in BMs. Heading off again now in search of cut price cream as I appear to have given away all of the butter I made over Christmas! :o Mmmmmm, Sainsburys or Mr Ts? :o :rotfl:

Ho Hum, no peace for the wicked.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • Afternoon

Well DD's friend went home at lunchtime and we all had a quiet lunch of soup with bread rolls and butter:D We watched the end of The Pianist which was excellent.

Another washload was done and managed to get on the line before the heavens opened up, so was mainly all dry. Not even a full load in the bin, so hopefully no washing till Monday;) I love my new WM! DW is on again and will be unloaded soon. DD has tidies her room up and I sorted through a load of paperwork.

My order from Debenhams came and am very impressed with my light shades-look very posh and were vastly reduced in the sale! OH liked his Jack Daniel mugs which were reduced from £18 to £5:rolleyes: Pans stil havent arrived and John Lewis sent me the wrong quilt cover (kingsize), although they charged me for the superking and sent the correct pillow cases:confused: ...no way I will get the matching one now! Can I take back to the store, or do I need to send back via post????
Have started a new meal plan thread to get my life back in order:eek:   this month should be a cheap month as we have a ton of food already in. Got the chicken out to defrost for tomorrow as we're having a roast...coz its Sunday! Going round BIL's tonight so a free meal:T

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

    Hi all

Not pressed the thanks button for anyone today but good to hear all your news.

Hugs and best wishes to those who are poorly and trying to train puppies, tile new houses etc etc!

Feeling pleased with myself. Went out early today and got some really lovely half price Xmas cards for next year. I thought I had missed the boat but Dunelm Mill had some really lovely ones. Also finally got my lounge curtain material - ordered there in mid October and had slipped through the net despite my phoning and calling in regularly in the meantime. 28 metres left on the roll and they have given me the lot and only charged 25 metres. Also added in thread as an apology - you can't ask for better than that. My two windows are huge - will now have to phone my friend who has offered to make them up for me. We have been without curtains since end of September when DG done so looking forward to a bit of softness about the windows.

DH at football (just seen his team has won) and should be home soon. My slowcooker chicken soup yesterday was delish!

    Having a quiet day.

DDs are playing scrabble and then my oldest DD will help me make home made chow mein in two huge pans for tea.

Tomorrow night we are going to set the table nicely in the lounge and have spring roll, salad, dips and onion bhajis as starters and then roast turkey breast with potatoes, asparagus etc. Have chocolate torte for afters.

    Looking forward to 2007.

Big hug to those feeling poorly.

    Hello :j

Been ever such a good girl today :). Went out for a 3 hour transport survey, then did some shopping in Sainsbury. I always go there but for certain things only, and I have a weekly voucher for £2 off a £20 spend (2 more left now) so I bought the stuff - total £20.75, less the £2 = £18.75. BUT, I also bought 2 packs of Actimel for £4, which are on offer from the manufacturer and I'll get the full cost refunded. So the £20.75 in fact is only £14.75 :D

A year ago I would not even have bothered, but now I make every £1 count.

Also, it's been unusually warm here in London today, so I'll put the heating on a bit later if I really need it.

Have a good evening, everyone :j
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
