OS Daily 21st July

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday, 21st July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning, usually more of a read and run kinda gal but I am also in the husband(to be) snoring early awake club. Today is payday :) have paid rent, sky, got a tesco's order coming (online stops me impulse buying) and will probably pop down to lidl later on and then it is cook up day since it is also my day off.
Going in the SC is lentil soup (mums recipe) and then cooking up mince for chilli/cottage pie/ my stretching variation of my mums risotto which is nice and OH actually LIKES!
Also found H2B's wedding day suit, none of the ones for hire were to his liking particularly, wasn't panicking still got 16 months and then he found it, in tesco's, at less than half price, cost less to buy him one that to hire one :D
    Happy days for me.
What has everyone got planned for the day?

    Good morning everyone.
Overcast, cool and damp here. It seems to be good weather for gastropodsL Need to go on a snail and slug hunt!

Just realised we go on holiday in 21 daysJ That thought will see me through the next day and a half.

Leavers’ assembly today so that will be good for K;eenex! The children are so excitable I am sure loads of them will be in tears – along with half the parents. Just soooo tired and everyone is frayed at the edges. So much going on and all the staff seem overloaded. There are piles of books all over the place - new ones for next year and old ones to go home!

Dinner tonight will be veggie lasagne with hg salad.

Flutterby - thoughts and prayers for you, your family and your friend, her Mum and family x

Happy Thursday folks. Hugs to all those who need or want them.
    Cheers m’dears, Silver x

    Morning my lovelies :D

Feels cool this morning brrr do I now assume that summer has been permamently moved to April :rotfl:
No big plans today. DD has to go to pre school as it's her last day there and they're having a party and entertainer etc. Think me and mindee will make my marmalade cake recipe that I've been fancying :D
Then this afternoon will be spent trying to catch up on housework. H is off out tonight so only me for tea. Think a baked spud will suffice or I may just eat with the kids later.

98dj - Ooooh I do love a good wedding, it's great when you can get a bargain for the big day.......everything with the word wedding attached normally ends up being quadruple the price <rollseyes>

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.

    Morning all
I need to shop today, I have 2 unexpected events coming up & I need to take food to both, so I shall buy some chicken thighs & make Jerk chicken to take to one, the other event requires a pudding, I shall do either Eton Mess or Chocolate cheesecake. I need to check what other puddings are being supplied before I make a decision. Can you tell from this I'm a really lazy cook, lol.
I don't need to cook a meal tonight as there is enough left from yesterday so we'll eat that.
    Have a good day everybody
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Last but one day at school today.
Younger children are getting more and more excited, older children are getting more and more lethargic.

DS and DD1 finish school today and DD2 and I finish tomorrow.
DD2 has a leavers assembly tomorrow which I have managed to get time off work to go to, I am sure that I am going to cry as I have had children at that school for the last 8 years, it is the end of an era.

WM has finished so I better go and peg it out in the garden (the washing not the machine).

Hugs to those that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Took big dog back yesterday, plan today to continue prepping the hall for decorating. Got the gym later. DS finishes school to day as I am taking out a small mortgage and going to Legoland tomorrow. As we're not having a holiday this year I shall try and have some big days out. Tea tonight will be a freezer / cupboard trawl.

Hi all, just a quick email, all's well in my neck of the woods although the rain looks as though its waiting to come down about 8.45 just as I am taking the DGC to school.Mikey has his 'leaving infants 'church service this afternoon which he insists he wants me to be there more to make sure he gets off home early than anything else I think He seems to be looking forward to junior school ,its the real world then.Henry (10) has his 11+ in September when he returns from his school break and Jack starts his senior school then. They seem to have all shot up in the past year .Jack (11) has his school leavers prom tonight and he is taking the little girl that he has had his eye on since infants school Ellie,I think its really sweet.Jack wants to be an actor when he grows up and he is a very good looking little boy and has eyelashes you would kill for and dark blue eyes. All the girls like him ,he is a gentle little boy and very courteous when it comes to girls whereas his year younger brother Henry is still at the 'I hate girls stage' he would rather play football or with his pet rat 'Fang':):) they are all so different bless them.next week I start three weeks of total childcare for the four boys so my life will be ...erm interesting for a little while to say the least :) Well time to get the coffee pot up and bubbling. I set and fill it (apart from the fresh water the night before so once I have thrown the water in and switched it on by the time I am out of the shower its perking away beautifully.Three mugs of columbian gold gets my engine motivated and I'm up and running for the day.
Hope everyone has a good day NSD for me again today my freezer is my shop this morning I have some M&S lightly dusted haddock that will be dinner tonightwith a few chips and peas .
    Take care all

Dinner tonight is something and chips using all the left over bits in the fridge, OH and I will have sausages (3 left) and bacon (4 rashers) dd can have the duck egg thats left and we will all have beans.

The weeks are flying by at the moment, I have some time off in August which I am looking forward to :j

    Morning everyone

Cool and damp here; first day of the holidays for us so the littlies are already up! :) DS will be at school full-time in September, so hope we can have some fun times this summer.

Got to collect sister's cat from kennels for her and also have DGS today, DS' childcare arrangements fallen through (methinks it will set the pattern for the whole summer, he's very slack at being organised!).

DH been working late this week, so taking the opportunity to use up all sorts - strange teas for all, but at least we're fed!

Off to feed the littlies, hope you have a good morning, will pop back later (kids willing!) Hugs & kisses to all in need.

    A xxoo
