I'm sorry to read you are feeling down LJ. Big hug if it helps!
Well what will help you get through hour by hour at the moment?
A book? Chocolate? Glass of wine? Chatting on the phone to someone?
Do what you need to do (within DFW reason of course
) to get you through. Maybe pamper yourself a bit? Got any sachets of stuff hanging around the bathroom?
As for an ongoing PMA, well I guess everyone is different. I think what usually kick starts me is:
1) Making a list of things and achieving the first one! I get spurred on to do the next one and so on.
2) Telling myself about all the ways in which I am lucky/blessed and find a news channel or something to see people far worse off to hammer it home.
3) I should do this one more often as my self esteem is not all that it should be *but*....telling myself about all the ways I am a good person and remember achievements i.e. I think back to when I used to share a bedroom with my sister and how I longed for my own space. Never thought I would be a home owner but I am and that's a major achievement for me!
Hope you can feel better soon....you don't deserve to be down hon.

No offence posting but you hardly have to resist temptation, as far as i know you don't actually spend over 1/2 of your earnings and you save the rest so you obviously know how to not give in to temptation
so how do you do it?

When i'm tempted i look at my debt spreadsheet. Then i think too myself that i really want that cleared and that usually stops the temptation. If that doesn't work i poke myself in the eye until i overcome it!

Just for clarity, is that question for the OP?

make me feel better right now, yoda's voice on my razr telling me i have a message from the darkside :rotfl:
not very shocking for me, but it's a man that has caused this dark mood, thinking back on it every dark mood i have is caused by a man. i'm not very adept at playing the game, usually guys just don't get in touch, this one did at least in reply to my xmas message, but then i've heard nothing since. i try not to judge men on the last ones standards, if i did i'd only have ever had one bf. this latest one, david, he said all the right things, talked about coming back to visit for a weekend and other stuff i won't share and like i say he did get back in touch. but now i want him to contact me and he hasn't and i know i'm very silly to get so bothered, but i fear that once again i've been too keen to believe a man and i'm getting my heart trod on again. my shoulder angel and devil are actually physically fighting now...0 -

Don't worry LynsayJane. Not all men are losers! I class myself as a nice fella and i've had my heart ripped out by women in the past. But there are a few gems out there and my current lady is an absolute angel
Keep the faith and everything will turn out good in the end :A :j 0 -

hi will... really it was just a general question to see what people do/dont do to resist temptation with reagrds to money/food/wine/smokes etc etc... just getting different people thinking really
as regards to my situation... i am just strict on myself... thats about it... yes i do get tempted by things... many things actually... i just keep reminding myself of my little pot of money growing... but that doesnt stop me completely spending
i give in sometimes... its just getting that balance right 0 -
