  • £495 on a K plate, we were going to try and get it for 300-350 as it was overpriced, after seeing that he could forget any chance of a sale

All he needs to do is file it down, do the same on the other side, put a bit of mesh over and spray it. Then add £300 to the price for vented wings modification.

It is a hot hatch . It has rotted. It will still be fun. Do not buy it as a family car.
If you do not like the look of it then walk away.
If you wish to buy it, then stick newspaper over the holes and spray it.

Sorry to sound like Stephen Hawking but this what he would say to you.

From my experience, non genuine front wings rust like this, so prob had a bump a while ago. They are a pain to replace with a scrapyard wing as they are bolted on and bonded too, so cheesewire or lots of patience required or else you'll kink it.
Check under the rear seats and inside the door shuts on the base of the b posts and lift up the boot carpet and look in the corners to see if it is a rotten apple.

I think the O/Ps point was that they werent told that the wings were in holes before they went to see it or they wouldnt have.
