Ladies: to crop or not?

I like my hair both long and short but I can look a bit boyish if I have it too short! The compromise is a short bob.
Hubby loves my hair short, he likes to be able to get at my neck!
I think hair length is irrelevant, if a style suits a woman she will feel confident which in turn will make her more attractive and sexier.0 -
I also do not find women who take quotes out of context attractive.
I never said I base how attractive somebody is on their hair alone, merely made an observation that to this date I have never found a woman with short hair attractive.:D:D:D:D:D.
I was being kind of 'tongue in cheek' with my comment.
It is a personal thing....I don't think I would ever choose to have my hair shaved or even cropped really short, but my choppy short has definitely made me happier---was so fed up with the long hair that took an age to wash/dry, never sat right, made me look like an ageing hippy, hated the feel of it, hated it clogging the shower (hubby too!). I wouldn't say I am overly petite but have been told I have quite a nice neck, and I do think the shape of it suits my face shape too.......each to their own.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I've heard it called the 16/61 syndrome. A woman looks 16 from the back, but when she turns around........
No, no, I'm not suggesting I'll keep wearing it the same way as a yoinger person,. or dress like one, more that I shall get around dressed like an eccentic (um, a bit like now) with oldfashioned old lady up dos. Quite the opposite, rather than mutton dressed as lamb I propose to indulge in my age.0 -
I've always thought as a general rule those with small features suit short hair (think nat portman)and those with larger features (such as anne hatherway) suit long hair.
personally, I'm too worried I'd resemble my brother if I cut it all off!
I think that's a good rule of thumb. I have big everything, eyes, nose, mouth, forehead, hands, feet, not overweight but I'm above average height. Hair shorter than chin length looks silly on me, although I wish I could pull it off as I'd probably go for something really really easy to manage!
Longer hair has its good and bad points. You can shove it back into a ponytail if you're in a hurry, you can style it in lots of different ways but it takes forever to dry and tangles much more easily. It also doesn't look so feminine and attractive first thing in the morning when its due for a wash!0 -
I had a crop when I met Oh and he still fancies the pants off me when its shortest!! I have a bob right now as the up keep of short hair is too much - trims every 4 weeks I have neither time nor money for. However I am toying with going short againPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Don't forget the purple hat! (To go with the purple rinse? :rotfl:).I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I think that there comes an age when long hair looks like you are trying too hard to hang onto your youth. Think Vanessa Phelps.....
A short stylish cut, a really good cut(not a crop)can enhance your features. It can be hard to keep up though, if you need a cut and colour every four weeks to keep it sharp.0 -
If I was more elfin looking I'd probably go for a crop
I think they're incredibly cute provided you have the face for it. I have my hair cut into a short angled bob, an inch below my chin, as it suits me better. I'm quite small so lots of hair makes me feel suffocated, but my face shape isn't quite right for a very short cut.
I have tried having long hair several times but my hair is much too thick (cutting the weight out doesn't help much as it grows in again so quickly). It was difficult to style and the weight really got to me in the end- I was wearing it in a ponytail most days and it was giving me headaches. Long hair may be seen as the most feminine hairstyle on women, but for some of us it's impratical. Personally I got mine cut right after seeing a recent photograph- it was taken right after I'd been outside and it was limp on top and bushy on the bottom (another fun side effect of having thick hair!)
My boyfriend's all for the short hair. I was growing it long when I met him (after having a man I liked at the time pestered me about how much nicer I'd look with long hair) he saw a picture of me with the angled bob and said how lovely I looked, so I chopped it off again! Since then I've learnt to do what I want, not what the man thinks I should want, and my boyfriend's been perfectly supportive at all lengths. He has admitted he liked the short better, as it's fun to run your hands through the tufty bits and I don't complain when he ruffles my hair as it's supposed to be a bit messy looking
Surprised by some of the 'I hate short hair' commentsI mean it's fair enough to hate how it looks on you, but it looks fab on some people, and as VictoriaBlyth says some people with short hair don't have a choice. In my opinion, long hair is the 'safe' option and it's totally outdated that some people consider it the only acceptable hair for a woman to have.

I think the colour and style of Vanessa's hair are more the issue, she seems to be emulating a Barbie doll, it didn't suit her when she was young either.
Helen Mirren has shoulder length hair and its lovely on her, Susan Sarandon and Sigourney Weaver are in their sixties but still look great with longer hair,0 -

I prefer it this way and have done for a couple years as when my hair grows long it's extremely curly and wild, got fed up with straighteners, anti friz treatments generally filling my hair with chemicals and then putting hot treatments on it, so it all came off. Think funky and punky and you won't go far wrong imagining what my hair looks like, pretty much like this
But obviously a little shorter, I love it, my hubby loves it and I think that's all that matters, couldn't give a stuff what others think as I am me and a haircut certainly don't change who I am.:)
How cool, my hair is a no. 4 all over job as well and I love it, did it a couple of weeks ago and felt like I was walking around naked for the first couple of days but soon got used to it and I think I'll keep it for a long time yet.
My hair has always been very short - before that it was a no.2 on the backs and sides and about 2 inches long on the top. I love short hair, it looks so striking and while not overtly sexy in itself, there's something hot about women who have the confidence to cut their hair super-short.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0
