  • Also, just wanted to add (because I am so excited about this - sad I know) but it has been a lovely feling over the last couple of smoke free days to still be able to smell my shampoo on my hair at the end of the day. I mean that is a first in about 15 years. This is FUN.

And good luck talby-wan. Definitely a good motive for you!

Well done everyone for stopping and planning too, I gave up for 2 years but started again in 2006. I got it down to only smoking a few menthols in the evening nothing in the day, if I went out to the pub I would smoke loads, so cut that down to.

Have stopped today, I think the hangover I have is helping me not want one, and the lovely girl I meet last night :p

    Happy new year
  • My others 1/2s going to see the doc next week to get on the free give up smoking program thats running. Basically he will get his niquitins etc free considering they will cost £20+ a week Im pleased about that

Its his 4th attempt Really hoping he'll do it this time :)
He managed 6 months in 2005 then got sent on a nasty business trip and the stress and americans offering him one started it all off again.

I've started reading Alen Carrs book but dont feel the urge to give up yet! Will keep you posted! How are those wh have given up doing? Anyone climbing the walls yet?!!
I felt exactly the same when I was reading it. At one point he suggests reading the book again, and I thought I would have to as it was never going to help. But I consciously had my last one and six months later I haven't had another one and don't have the inclination to have one either.

Keep it up and good luck (to everyone)!

What p***ed me of was that when I searched for websites offering advice on cutting down, tips etc, I couldn't find any because the results were swamped by the hysterical "cutting down is no good, you've got to quit, won't somebody think of the children?!!!!!!!!" rantings of the extremely well paid professional anti-smoking lobby.

There's an EXTREMELY well paid professional pro-smoking lobby to contend with...

Maybe, but they don't spend their time calling me a tw*t for smoking then getting in my way when I try to quit.
