Nokia N95

  • I've had Nokia's for 10 years now, but since getting my generic N80 I'll think twice about using them again.
I waited so long for this phone but it's failed to deliver IMO.
That's why I went and bought a Samsung D900. The camera is miles better and so is the battery life. The menu is also uber fast in comparison.
The only things I miss is the Nokia UI, and the WiFi.

Be careful with the N95. I doubt it'll come out when it is currently planned to. You should have seen how much the N80 was delayed by!

Also, wait a few weeks for other people to try it out and see what you think. 6 months on and the latest firmware still crashes me out quite often

Interesting .. I got rid of the D900 as I thought it was a pretty disappointing phone and got the N80 which I find to be much better. I admit the menu was a lot faster than the Nokia but then the Samsung does a lot less. The camera on the D900 is terrible in dark lighting conditions.

Yeah it is interesting how people view different phones.

The camera's on the D900 and N80 are both bad in low light, but as I still have both phones I compared them during the day and the D900 was miles better. The colour and focus stood out a mile.

If the D900 had WiFi then it'd be my dream phone. But as it stands, the tiny feel in my pocket, no crashes, better camera, and better battery make me take it out every morning

i reckon thats why you can renew 2 months early (with vodafone at least), your 18 month contract becomes a 20 month contract, then if you repeat, it will be 22 months, 24 months etc etc

Makes sense really, an 18 month contract is more profit!

The biggest cost for a phone company is the phone, so offering one every 18 months instead of 12 is money in the bank for them! :j

  • Interesting point 18 month contracts, what you going to do if your n95 or similar fails after 12 months and the warranty has run out.

Could be an expensive repair bill or if lucky a replacement model (refurb similar model) on insurance.

But you will still be in contract for 6 months, the networks are going to have you both ways and look at the £7.99 plus everywhere charges for insurance now.

WIN WIN WIN for the networks. Personally Nokia need a new battery design / technology as there phones drain batteries to quickly now, a friend had 3 batteries for 3uk N80.

  • Nokia warranty is 2 years so that isn't a great problem, not sure about other networks :j

If you don't want it then don't buy it!

It doesn't *need* it will last on one battery BUT if you don't want to use the GPS then thats fair enough

The only reason that it would require an extra battery is because of the GPS.

IF you want a phone that can do a million things more than any other phone AND have a excellent battery life that is simply NOT going to happen without making the phone really big.

No point complaining is it? Nokia can't do much if there aren't any batteries that are good enough can they?
