why clean something that already looks clean:rotfl:
I thought that when someone mentioned about washing curtains every two weeks. What's the point of that? Unless your house gets particularly grubby or smelly on a regular basis, how dirty could a pair of curtains actually get in two weeks? I take mine down every year or so and they are never particularly dirty at all. There are five of us in this house too, so the house certainly gets wear and tear.
Someone once started a thread about changing their beds every other day. Again, my immediate thought was how dirty do you have to be to have to resort to changing your bedsheets every two days?! Even with the 5 of us, my beds just don't get that dirty that more than once a week would ever be required (unless someone was ill)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I wash the net curtains twice a year, maybe.
bedding is every week without fail, hoover every day whole house.
mop nearly every day, dusting, 2 or 3 times a week. I have far better things to do than keep a perfect house, so long as its looking ok ish and isnt a total hole then I am ok with that.
Guarentee tho, if I do decide to go mad and clean big time, no buggar ever drops in, if im over worked with 6 kiddies here for the day and the cats hanging off the curtains and it looks like we have been burgled, thats when people "drop in" for a cuppa. sods law.Frugal living challenge 2011

ive had my living room curtains 6 years and they have never been washed...they dont get closed either cos ive got vertical blinds which btw are a pain in the bum cos the cats leave hair all over them so i have to wash them and use a sticky roller on them too...i did think about shaving the cats to solve this problem:rotfl:
our bedroom ones are a couple of years newer and were washed once cos hubby spilt coffee on them:rotfl:
beds are every 7-10 days unless dirty soonerHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -
Seven years here since our curtains were washed and they're 7 years old, so haven't been washed once yet :rotfl:
They're cream as well. We discussed this this morning and they still don't look dirty, so aren't going to be washed either.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
i just think people dont realise how clean we are compared to say 50 or 100 years ago. very few people have manual jobs nowadays so we dont come home from work covered in sweat. we hardly walk anywhere anymore, so you dont walk 4miles to and from school or work. we dont work down mines or at the coal face and largely we wash ourselves every day and wear deoderant so our clothes arnt all smelly and sweaty
(clearly someone is going to come on here and say, yes i work as a miner, dont wear deoderant and walk 10 miles t'pit)
we have hoovers instead of sweepers and brooms, we have washing machines instead of hot tubs or hand washing,...
so how dirty do people think we and their houses are??? it astounds me to be honest0 -

I do walk 10 miles often, not to work though and I really don't wear deodorant. Gave it up years ago. Although I sometimes use a little if I know I'm going to be round loads of delicate office workers for a long time :rotfl:
I don't smell much though, but we have been seduced into believing everyone must smell like a scented candle their whole life.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
