I do like a nice and tidy house, but I'm def not OCD about it!
I work 2 days a week, so the other three weekdays I spend most of my time cleaning. I do nothing but the bare essentials on the two days I work and at the weekend.
So i hoover/mop 3 times a week, dust the surfaces and clean the windows (inside, outside gets done v rarely) three times a week, deep clean the kitchen and bathroom 3x a week etc.
I thik that your first paragraph is contradicted by the second two.:)0 -
morning folks!! sparkly floors and shiny surfaces a plenty in the house of Vroom this morning:D
Waiting for baba to wake up, then we're off to our mum and baby walking group, then a bit of retail therapy with grandma:D xx:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0 -
I have a very messy husband who pulls the place apart when I'm at work.
He only finishes 2-3 hours earlier than me, but it's enough to spill things on the kitchen floor and surfaces without cleaning them up, leave used teabags next the kettle, kick the contents of the cats water bowl onto the floor, spill cat food on the floor, walk mud, stones and grass into the lobby and across the downstairs bathroom floor, spill tea on the computer desk, leave his breakfast bowl on the computer desk, drop some of his breakfast on the carpet (and squidge it in with his toe so it 'doesn't show' leaving me on my hands and knees a the weekend picking crispy stuck on bran flakes out of the carpet pile), take his uniform off and drop it on the floor of the bedroom, leave skid marks in the toilet, use all the toilet roll and not replace it, spread liquid soap from the dispenser around the sink, leave dirty (and sometimes oily) hand marks on the towels, and drag out files and leaves paperwork left strewn on the floor. Sometimes I come home and also find car parts on the living room rug.
As you can imagine, I've made sure housework is not on my list of priorities otherwise I'd be in tears at the constant tsumani of crap I have to clean up.
If he wasn't such a wonderful husband I'd swing for him."carpe that diem"0 -

Walking the dogs at 5.30am OMG, mine don't get to go walkies until mid morning even though I am up at 6am, I can't go anywhere until I have had my bath ,breakfast and surfed the net!
best time to walk them cos you don't get any of the gimps who lets their dogs off and approach yours offlead. I have a very grumpy Westie who doesnt appreciate having his bum sniffed by random dogs:D:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0 -

I have managed to get myself and the two kids dressed.........This is a productive morning so farI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

My house gets a light clean (hoovering, dusting, sweep laminate, mop kitchen floor) every 2 weeks, bathroom/loo cleaned monthly, and a "proper" spring clean (windows, skirting boards, empty kitchen cabinets etc.) annually.
Kitchen work surfaces and cooker get a wipe down every night after preparing a meal.
Clothes are washed weekly (normally get through 5 shirts, 2 t-shirts, 1 pair of work trousers, and 1 pair of jeans). Bedding/towels are washed every 2 weeks.
I have a lodger, and though he is great at helping out cleaning communal areas, he is immensley proud that his bedding hasn't been washed in the 18 months he's lived here!
My girlfriend on the other hand (we don't live together) practically has OCD by comparison - house gets dusted/hoovered twice a week, and a big clean every couple of weeks. Washing machine is on most days, clean bedding weekly.0 -
my house gets done when I'm sick and tired of the mess.
The back of the house is on a dirt road, so in wet weather the kitchen gets muddy, despite mats put down that I can just throw in the washer and on hot days it gets very dusty.
My mum enjoys cleaning (obviously not genetic), I invite her round to do it some times, I pay her in cups of tea, she really likes hoovering, other than the stairs!
I hate it, dread it, but I am glad when it's done as it means it'll be a couple of days before it needs doing again!
I am better than I used to be!
The absolute earliest the baby gets up is 7:30am, other than that it's back to sleep! I don't want her to get into any of those early morning getting up bad habits0 -

this makes me feel a lot better. my OH opens drawers and cupboards and then doesnt shut them, spills things and leaves it there. I have a no shoes rule in the house, which means that he wears his slippers, but then he goes and wears them outside instead of changing into his shoes. he leaves messy bowls, crumbs (never eats with a plate) all over the place. doesnt place things in bins, just leaves them on the top
it drives me mad0
