Been through the malware sticky again, AVG found nothing, Spybot found and fixed 3 entries (Rasdialer, realdownload express, microsoft windows security center registry key/values/changes), ad-aware and defender found nothing.
Checked HP for hardware updates can't find any
CHKDSK runs through no errors
Reduced hardware acceleration last night, still crashed this morning
Ran numerous passes of memtest
Anybody got any ideas what I should try now?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -

I can't replace them, I haven't got any spare sticks, however I've tested them both a couple of times and they seem ok. The problem is running them one at a time is fine, but as the fault(s) is intermittent it's difficult to know how longto do it for.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
You're running XP - do you have Service Pack 2 installed? I guess you do, since you've been to Windows Update.
It still sounds like faulty RAM is the culprit, but... both of the errors you're seeing can apparently be caused by variants of the haxdoor virus. I know you've already scanned for malware, and with AVG.. but it might be worth seeing if the registry keys for this virus exist on your laptop. Here's the MS article with instructions:

I've got SP2 already. Read the article and it says about useing your windows XP inst CD, but I don't think I ever got one with my laptop, or is it more likely I've lost it

OK ran the scans on here again and it's come back with no critical issues detected, but the following suggestions to optimise, could anybody shed any light into what they mean?
Realtek RTL8139 C+ Fast Ethernet NIC: Device is disabled
ClntMgmt.sys: Device has a problem
NetBios over Tcpip: Device has a problem{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
Got another bloody error last night and just now on a blue screen
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop 0x0000000A (oxa48d769c, 0x000000c8, 0x804da6f0)
Any ideas what this means???{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
It could be caused by faulty hardware, drivers etc. and is difficult to pin down if it's happening intermittently, and as it's a laptop you can't remove unnecessary cards inside the machine. Run with only 1 stick of RAM for a week. If no problems run with the other stick and see how it goes.
See links under 0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php for more info.0 -
OK I've been going through the event viewer and found 4 errors relating to my last crash, any help would be most appreciated:
(In Order of occurance)
1 the general purpose usb driver adildr.sys failed to start due to the following error: the device cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no devices associated with it.
2 the DHCP client service depends on the netbt service which failed to start because of the following error: a device attached to the system is not functioning
3 the TCP/IP NETBIOS helper service depends on the netbt service which failed to start due to the following error: a device attached to the system is not functioning
4 the following boot start or system start driver failed to load:
CIntMgmt.sys
NETBT
Please can somebody help me, I'm about to give up{Signature removed by Forum Team}0
