The error log file would have been saved in Drwtsn32.log. Search for it (by default it's created in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson) and review the contents using http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/drwatson_overview.mspx?mfr=true.
There is no log created thier for some reason?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
It will probably be your Video card... Am I right in thinking it is an ATI Mobility radeon???. These have been known to cause these errors. ATI claim to have fixed the errors with the latest drivers but a lot of users of the mobility series say its only slightly better.
If you could let us know the model of the card then maybe we could help0 -
Does radeon igp 340m sound right, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for? I got this off sys info, components, multimedia, display.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

As per post #5a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nfts.sys

Technical info
*** stop 0x00000050 (0xa3a171fo, 0x00000000, 0xf75b69cf, 0x00000000)
*** nfts.sys - address f75b69cf base at f75b6000, date stamp 41107eea

LOTS:rotfl: :rotfl:
Look at the instances - are you attaching a scanner - do you have a rootkit ? Have you run thru the mal/spware sticky ?
have you tried reducing hardware acceleration etc - ie differnt settings in the adapter's driver tabs/pages.
Is the laptop simply over heating - are the vents and fans clear of dust and not covered during use ?
have you run windows update ? in "Custom Mode" - look on the left of the screen - are there any hardware updates available ?
Do not use "Stand By" - always turn the laptop off - to avoid hibernation problems.
You should run chkdsk /f /r until it reports no errors.Rich people save then spend.

Not attaching a scanner, don't have one, not sure what a root kit is, so probably not. Been through the malware sticky.
Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by "have you tried reducing hardware acceleration etc - ie differnt settings in the adapter's driver tabs/pages." Sorry I'm not very comp literate.
I don't think think the laptop is overheating, it only ever crashes on start-up.
Never use hibernate, and ran chdsk through.
Earlier posters seemed to suggest RAM probs, what do you think?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0
