  • Hi all. Happy Birthday to LoopyLou, hope you have a great day :bdaycake:

Many hugs to rchddap1 :grouphug: that must have been the most terrifying time of your life. Thank heavens everything worked out OK in the end.

Hugs to all those feeling under the weather too.

Well for the first time in my life (!) I braved the sales today with DD22. Got there nice and early so didn't have any problems parking. Got a set of 6 champagne flutes at a bargain price, which is what I wanted (got a big birthday coming up in 2007, dammit :o ), also got two pairs of jeans for DD and some half price Christmas cards and wrapping paper and ribbons from Paperchase and W H Smith so that's all that sorted out ready for next year now, yay.

We tried to get DD a new leather jacket but couldn't find one to suit our purse :( so maybe she'll have to be good and ask the birthday fairy (aka OH) some time in June.

Spent yesterday making lots and LOTS of lovely turkey stock from the carcass so must remember to skim off the fat and freeze the stock in a moment. Waved a final farewell to the rest of the bird in a gorgeous turkey fricassee for dinner last night, also ate up the rest of the veggies so that's all our Christmas grub over and done with for another year. Just all the chocs to go now :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone! It's cold, grey and miserable here so I'm glad I'm staying in for the rest of the afternoon. Not looking forward to having to go back to W*rK next week, sigh.

    good afternoon folks
not been on much due to crimbo etc,
darling husband bought me a nice new cooker and we spent out crimbo money on new flooring for the kitchen (had a flood 2 months ago so floor was ruined) so i have been madly painting the kitchen for the arrival of my first ever brand new cooker which comes tomorrow can you tell i am excited about it
    not much else to say
hope everyone is well and having a great day
    kindest regards

rchddap1 - just ploughing my way through everyone's posts. OMG what a nightmare. You must take care of yourself after this awful time as you and DH will feel very vunerable. Glad Lily has made such an improvement.

Love and thoughts to you all.

Wasn't planning on posting today ( nothing new to report) but having read about Lily I had to!

((((((((rchddap, Mr rchddap and little Lily)))))) I can't begin to imagine the torment you have been through. For a darling little scrap to go through all that, it makes my blood run cold!! So glad she is recovering now, and you'll all be in my prayers for a total recovery. Signs are looking good aren't they?
    Thank God for parental instincts!!!

Snowy, sorry to hear you're poorly. Think you're about a week behind me, afraid it will get worse before it gets better!! Yeah I've done the bit where you sound like you're a 50 a day girl. It was the gasping for breath that really did for me. Anyway keep warm and just wait for it to pass, there really isn't much else you can do.

(((joannasmum)))) you still need to be especially kind to yourself. You've had a tough time too.

    Happy Birthday loopyloulou!!!

Aussie, of course you can wear shorts in Britain in February!! My postman is still in shorts, but he is like a tough old mountain goat:rotfl: :rotfl: If you have lovely furry legs like him, you'll be fine:D :D

Must get off, cough is back with a vengeance!

    Hi Peem

We never have steak pie on New Year's Day!!!! I always prefer a nice joint (in the SC of course). Quite often pork. Not sure this year as I think we are going to the Zoo with DD, SIL, DGSs so it might be pizza!

    Hiya everyone

rchddap1 - ((((hugs)))) to you, OH and Lily and hope she makes a full and speedy recovery. I had DS2 in hospital when he was 6 weeks old, although nothing so serious, luckily.

Happy birthday to LoupyLou too :bdaycake:

I'm currently sitting in the dining room with a table groaning under food aain (and trying to stop the boys nicking all the best bits) Friends will be arriving anytime soon. I also have a chilli on the go and a veggie lasagne that will feed the 5000 too :rotfl:

So, today I've done very little apart from prep food. I did wear my velour leeeesure suit while I did it. Ok, it's comfy, but not the sort of look I was after :D Whoops, forgot to get pic of myself wearing it ;)

Right, have to formulate a reply to a Q&A session I'm doing for a local paper for next week!! Ah, the fame..... :rotfl: (I wish, then again, maybe not)

Have a good day and if anyone's hungry, pop along.

    TM xxx

Probably won't get on to post again today. Several things to catch up with - especially the ironing. The wind is starting to howl - they are predicting a very stormy New Year's Eve here in Edinburgh. Hope they don't cancel again like they did 3 (?) years ago.

DGSs were taken home a short while ago. They were soooo good. DGS2 sleft 6.45 pm-7.30 am; DGS1 sleft 7.45-6.50. I was woken with DGS1 whispering Granny you awake - I love you. Can I have a cuddle. AAAAAAAAAAAAw. I always sleep in with them when they are here. I am paranoid in case something happens and I don't hear the monitor. Yes, I have a duplicate of everything here. All I need is clean clothes for the morning.

My friends popped round with their grandchildren up from England and it was certainly a mad hour or so but all got on so well. They were comparing stories of the Tower of Doom they all received from Santa. (grannies/grandads still recovering from cost but it is also part of DGS1 birthday present for next month).

Cookie seems to have settled back in but we haven't seen too much of him. He certainly felt lighter in weight last night when we brought him out for the boys to see. I am sure he will get over the ordeal. It will certainly take us some time to recover. Just so glad he hasn't been eating our foundations or anything else serious!

Hugs and kisses to those who need it - by the time I get to ready everything I can't remember who I want to send messages to! Sorry, but I do care about you all.

DS 28th birthday. A prem baby and we were so worried at the time. He is now more than totally normal!

    Peace and goodwill to all.

  • Hi Guys!

rchddap1-so gald baby is over the worst and safely back at home with you. You must have been so scared! Thinking of you hun. All the best and give Lily a big hug/kiss from me:D ...ooo....i luv babies...there so cute!

Managed to get to the cinema this morning and left cleaner here whilst we went as I really needed to get out the house. WM has been on with bedding and still another 2 loads to do over the weekend to catch up.

Have friends coming over for dinner tonight-just doing a Spagbol & Pizza with salad, coleslaw etc. OH is doing most of it, but am looking forward to the company and havent seen them in a while, so will be nice to catch up. Their DD is staying over tonight as she is the same age as our DD...so that will be fun.

Anyway, got to go and have a snooze before they get here.

    Hugs to all.

    Hi all :hello:

    ((((rchdapp1 and lily and hubby))))

    loopyloulou - HAPPY BIRTHDAY :bdaycake:

    catowen - congrats on 3000 posts! :T

DLB - good luck with quitting smoking. I stopped 3 years ago (I read Allen Carr's Easy way to stop smoking, and gave up straight away, no problems). Giving up will change your life SO MUCH (positive of course) :D

My cold is better today - sore throat not as bad, cough worse, but nose clearer. I also don't feel as wolly headed :T

Been to visit my friend today - she emigrates to OZ next week :( I will miss her so much

I hope you all have a great day xxx
