daft I know but worth a try...on my vio laptop on the front left hand side there is a wireless on/off switch...I once turned it off by accident so got no internet... it took me ages to find out what I'd done!
to be honest it was my daughter that found it

That wee dongle has arrived, I've installed, fitted and set it up - my connection is now solid and fully reliable. Looks like that problem is solved.

Installation is straightforward:
1 - Disable existing adaptor in Device Manager (instructions earlier in therad) - Right click & select "disable"
2 - Disc in drive & run setup as directed on disc packet.
3 - Restart laptop, plug-in dongle now. Right click on its taskbar icon and select "Config Utillity" or similar. Enter network key in the box and away you go. You do need to use this utillity to get an auto login, the standard windows login box won't save it.
