I got a great shopping bag from Ecotopia very sturdy, it looks really nice and I can fold it up so it is quite small and it fits in my handbag I keep it in there all the time so I don't get to the supermarket and realise I have forgotten a bag!0

I'm going with making my own. They are very simple to make after all-and you can make them whatever size you like! Co-op sell the jute type bags for £1 each at the checkout and kiosk otherwise.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

Hi you guy's probably know this already but if not, if you take 5 plastic bags to Somerfield supermarket, they will give you a free bag for life, it doesn't matter where the plastic bags come from originaly. I took 2 from Tesco's 2 from the co-op and 1 was from Sainsbury's. The bag i got in exchange was really strong and held a lot of Shopping. I don't think that you have to buy any thing from the Supermarket either. So basically any 5 plastic bags for 1 free bag for life. Hope this is of some use to someone.20p savers club

If anybody is interested in recycling ordinary carrier bags into something useful - have a look at this site!

My local Age Concern charity shop is giving away free reuseable fabric bags if anyone is interested.
I didn't take one as I have too many bags already, lol, but they looked a reasonable size and strength.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
I don't think you can ever have too many bags, not thin fabric ones at any rate. I've decided to reduce my bring home rate of carrier bags this year, and am pleased to report that I've only had two this so far this year: one really large one where the stuff wouldn't have fitted into any other bag, and another large one which I could have done without but I wasn't awake enough to say "Don't need a bag, thanks!"
Although I do find that even if you say that, you still have to stay awake because some shop assistants are on auto-pilot ... bit like me really! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
At the moment I have more bags than I can use - actually asked for a couple for christmas presents, and it's often one of the first things I look for in the sales, lol *my name is Rachel and I am a bag-aholic* :rotfl:
A plus side is though, that I actually reached a point just before christmas where I literally did not have a carrier bag in the house for almost a fortnight - had to do one shop using them though as sometimes I need them to transport craft stuff etc to school (wouldn't want to risk loosing a jute or fabric shopper), so we currently have about half a dozen
Just remembered - noticed today in Superdrug that they have the Princes Trust ones reduced to £1 each if anyone is interested , and also a load of the fabric bags in Peacocks are also down to £1 a bag.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
I tend to have a thing about bags.............I'm certain one day I'll be known as the 'bag lady' if I'm not already...........lol
I'm a charity shop freak and haunt them regularly so my bags tend to come from there. The other year I was a bit overwhelmed with how many I'd got so a few friends got their christmas/birthday pressies in a bag..........that way they got an extra pressie and I knew the bag had gone to a good home...........lolMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi all, yes i have been cutting down on the amount of plastic bags ages now, and i bought cloth ones from three different places. I got one from The Body shop, and another from a site on the internet and another with a wee smiley face on it;) I try to cut down as best i can. There are so many bags out there it is awful to see them in the street blowing all over the place, and there are too many of them. Lidl are doing the right thing where you are not offered any plastic bags and if you want any you have to pay a few pence for them, so they have been doing this a long time now and i wish other places would do the same. If we all do our little bit it will still make a difference. It will take a while though i think for people to get the hang of it. I remember years ago a wee neighbour of mine used to rinse out a plastic bag and peg it out on the line next to her washing :T
I think she was being green all those years ago, bless her.
Do a little kindness every day.;)0
