You should be able to get movies for half price for 6 months if you call and say you are cancelling because it's too pricey (just say you are cancelling, and they will ask why). I've never called to ask about movies and not been offered all the movie channels at 8 quid for some set period.

They *might* possibly try to sell you on paying 8 quid for half the movies (the channels are broken into 2 categories that are 8 quid each, that is the normal price), but if they do I'd just say it was too much for half as many channels, you'd do it if it were 8 for all.

this goes for any company, it will try and find you an alternative for 0844 numbers etc. Sky are onto this and keep changing their number, but you will usually get one that works.
It will also give you a Geographical number, which is very handy.

Just used the alternative -(freephone) 0800 0466434 - straight through!

Sky is in my hubby's name too, and he also hates making calls. But I can call for him no problem as long as I know the password he put on the account (which I do). So if you don't mind being the one making the call, just get his password. You also need the name the account is under and address, and I'm assuming you have that already, lol. We wouldn't have gotten any of the deals or the free sky+ box if hubby had to call.
