Distant hugs to you Millie - Shingles is vile so keep away from me, knowing my luck I would catch it even though I have had Chicken Pox. I blame the poxy students that you work with..they have given you the pestilence:eek: I should have rung you really too and am sorry that I have been a bad friend and haven't:(

My counsellor did say something along those lines Millie but she also suggested that it might not work me seeing her because I tend to counsel her, this is not something that I mean to do...she said "there is only room for one counsellor in this room". She also commented on the fact that I read too many books and such a diverse range of books as though that is a bad thing. I am seeing my doctor this afternoon because I have an ear infection and will ask him if there is another counsellor I can see, it not then I won't see this counsellor any more.

Feeling rather despondent, cross and angry today - I have been working hard on a charity auction and the decision was made today that as people hadn't bothered with it then it wasn't viable, I have spent the morning ringing people to say thanks for their donation but the event has been cancelled, the worst call was to the charity for whom the auction was in aid of. I just feel as though all the work I have put into this was for nothing.

Cooked up a lamb shank in Pot yesterday - the meat just fell off the bone but I had made it a bit too wet so served up the meat with the onion jus and a bread roll (I discovered too late that the Smash was off and I hadn't got any tinned spuds either). The remaining gravy/stock has been boxed up and is in the freezer to either be used with the remaining lamb shank or to be used as a base for soup.

No idea what to have for dinner tonight - might cook up a beef burger and serve it with oven chips and peas.

More things listed on ebay yesterday even my charity shop find that cost me very little is being sold for a profit:D - money raised to be split between two bank acccounts. I shall wait for another free listing day to add other things that I know I have and can easily get rid of.

Thinking too that as the weather is getting colder that I will drag out my old 13.5 tog duvet that I have stored in the spare bedroom, I already have a feather one that is lighter on the bed now which keeps me as warm as toast. I am dreading the winter - was thinking that I should make some door sausages - I have some bought ones - 2 in the living room and one by the front door as I can get a howling gale under that. I might just do a smaller one for the office that way I can keep heat in.
  • Shingles is rank, but I don't feel too bad, just a bit bored now! Most people would kill for a few days crashed out on the sofa, but I will be climbing the walls before long. Have some badass pills though so should be better soon! When I am back on my feet, I shall be in touch and maybe we could do coffee?

I know it is easy for me to say but it sounds like your counsellor could have managed the situation differently. Not sure what her point is about you reading too many books? Self help books you mean? Maybe trying to see another one is the way forward as, as I said, not all partnerships work well enough. Please don't let the experience put you off though as there are some fab counsellors out there :D and you are more than worth it. Hope GP sorts out your ears, I had an ear infection a while back (am falling to pieces, evidently!!) and they are not nice :(

Sorry to hear about the auction, what a bummer, esp when you have put so much work into it :(

I keep muttering that I am cold, but I refuse to keep the heating on all day, so am relying on layers and hot water bottles!! and fleecy PJs of course..classy bird that I am :) xx
  • Sorry to hear about the auction being cancelled :(

It's really tough, when you've worked so hard to get prizes and things donated ... and I hate having to be the person to break news that somethings been cancelled

Glad you seem to be making friends with your new pot though :p

Genereally you need less liquid in a slow cooker than a pan - unless you are adding in potatoes as they soak it up.

    Seems to be less evaporation.

Not around at all yesterday - I spent the day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. I did nip out to the chemist to get my prescription filled so spent my time dosing my ears with spray. My earache was horrendous yesterday and it has given me tinnitus so I keep hearing a high pitched whine:(

Went out today to see a friend, she is taking me out on Saturday as I shamefully cannot afford the petrol but it is to a Forever Living event - I can sell this stuff really easily, so I am going to find out more about it and if I can do it on a miniscule budget.

Coffee would be ace Millie when you are up and about. Have you started on your sloe gin yet? My vodka is coming along nicely:D

Late on Monday, I nipped into Sainsbugs and spent £7 but I got some emergency tins of spuds and another emergency litre of longlife milk and some Aunt Bessies Mash along with some bread rolls from the whoopsie shelf - 12 basic white rolls for 24p (all bagged up and in the freezer), I also got their magazine because it contained slow cooker receipes but they only included one that I would ever consider making and eating...all the rest were curry..eww.

Currently still on the look out for work - am considering applying to work for Mary Portas as she will be having a shop in Birmingham (no job advertised yet though).

Received bill from Virgin Money who state that I have failed to pay the minimum amount, I paid a pound and they know I am paying a pound, so they have stung me with a charge of £12 (fingers crossed parents will lend me some money to clear this - I wish I had never heard of Virgin Money because they are complete cowbags). I have raided my £2 jar because it is likely that I will need lunch on Saturday (no idea if lunch is included so I would like to be prepared)..I hate being skint!

Tonight I shall be watching Kirstie Allsopp to see what she will be making on her diy programme that starts tonight..I have a need to make some door sausages. Saw Gok last night and loved the cheap outfits he pulled together - some fabby black trousers with a white stripe (I would wear them) and he did a different outfit with trousers from Tesco, a cheap white vest, a cheap white grandad shirt, a supermarket grey waistcoat and some blue braces..I could easily have worn that too.

Spent a large proportion of yesterday afternoon dozing..I have this real need to sleep in the afternoons lately (I blame the ear infection). It really has knocked me about. In other medical news, I spoke to my GP this morning (I am not actually registered with him but with a female GP in the practice but I haven't ever seen her because he always has appointments available) and he has referred me to another counsellor whom I have to see in Monyhull Road (I think this is at the old psychiatric hospital:eek:). I am hoping for a better time because my current one is so judgemental.

I have some watchers on some of my Ebay items..I do wish they would bid instead of ruddy watching:mad:

My job hunt continues - I am sick of applying for jobs and never hearing anything back:mad: I have a cunning plan anyway so watch this space.

So gadaffi is dead..what a shame he died before he could reveal why he ordered the bombing of the Lockerbie jet but good riddance to him anyway.

I have picked all the old cherry tomatoes and have chucked them in Pot with a squidge of tomato puree, some black pepper, dried basil, a handful of pearl barley (I keep it in my grandma's old pickle jar) and a veggie stockcube and some water. I shall whizz them up and make a sauce of somekind or use as a base for soup.

Blimey, I am turning into some kind of earth mother - who would have thought it?

Earth mother blitzed the 'soup' and decided that it was a bit sweet but it smells like a pasta sauce that twerp used to have in his flat (he couldnt really cook from scratch, everything was packet where he was concerned either that or takeout pizza, !!!!!! or curry) so I have decided that it would be a better sauce and will be added to fried onion and mince for bols. Tomatoes cost me nothing and I used up stuff I had in my store cupboard anyway so cost was pretty much zero.

I put the electric blanket on for the first time since January last night and switched it off when I went to bed, that way I could nod off quicker instead of tossing and turning. Might do the same tonight as I have a really early start tomorrow.

I have decided after much investigation to sign up for Forever Living - although I cannot yet afford to buy product myself, I have managed to get something to try and I can blog to my heart's content thus folks will buy. When they buy, then I can buy product and sell more:D Thus using my cunningness not to part with cash initally:D

Been to sign on - at least I wasnt penalised for the 'fake' job that only wanted to pay £3.50 an hour. Still no sign of dole money yet but I have now produced my UTR number which they now have and it is being couriered to the decision makers tonight (I had to get my UTR number from the taxman).

All my ebay sales money will now have to go to my personal account because I have a massive virgin media bill - £63:eek: - rather than use my mobile at £9 a minute for calling 0845 numbers, I used my cable landline - so calls to the HMRC and the jobcentre etc have cost me an arm and a leg, I know that I was holding on for half an hour to the jobcentre when I initially signed on:mad: I could not apply online.

Tonight, I am ringing my parents - I had intended to ring them tonight but mum rang me at lunchtime, she left a voicemail as I was on the other line. I am not looking forward to visiting because I know I will get nagged and treated like a child - I know that I am a horrible daughter and my mere presence on this earth is such a disappointment to them:mad::( How awful too that I owe money..I know I am in a pickle and didnt mean to get here but I am doing what I can to get out of it only parents can't see that and mum is uber critical.

I have applied for more jobs today so hopefully something will come in from them. Must really list stuff on music magpie, clear up the flat (a start has been made), tomorrow I am out and about all day.
