The Credit Union account has been opened using £1 in pennies (out of my penny jar) and the £5 note that I found lurking in the bottom of my old purse. They did say that I would normally get a divi each year but due to the economic climate they haven't been able to do that but they hope to start again.
As I was forced to spend more for parking than I would normally (machine does not give change) then I had to go for a mooch around the precinct. I poked my nose into Iceland and came out without buying anything, I went into Wilkinsons for a mooch with no intention of buying anything but just to see what they had so that I could make a mental note of things for future spends. My beady little eyes spotted a slow cooker - I have been after one for ages but they have all been out of my price range because I wanted one with a separate crock pot. It was an own branded item and to be honest it looked better than the branded Russell Hobbs one that was nearly three times the price:eek: (admittedly it was a lot bigger). I ummed and aahed and even walked away from it until I remembered that there was only one on the shelf besides the display model and that if I went back another day then it was unlikely to be there:( I am pleased to say that I made a wise investment and bought it..it cost me £7:cool: Who needs an oven when I have Moskie and his new friend Pot?:D
Wandered in and out of the Clarks Shop. Also went into a fruit shop but decided against buying carrots when I saw that their only onions came from Australia of all places..why buy foreign veg when we have so much of our own? Need to buy carrots and onions because I now have a plan for one of my lamb shanks:D
Job hunt continues and whilst I was in the Northfield Partnership Office today (where the credit union is located), I noticed they had a job board and offered free internet too. On the job board I spotted a part time admin job at a local plumbers merchants - I shall be applying for that this afternoon.0 -
You will love your slow cooker, especially on cold winter days when you come in to smell dinner cooking! The only problem I found was I needed a bigger one which Santa brought me last Christmas.
Sausage casserole from mine is yummy, as are Lamb Shanks and whole chickens which stretch to about 10-12 meals - more if I make stock and/or soup with the carcass. I try to do large portions so I can freeze some for another day.
You are trying so hard to find a job, really hope it pays off for you soon. Would part time hours enable you to keep your own business ticking over?:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Happy slow cookering
(If that's a word!!)

Matty a part time job will help me keep my business ticking over but I am not averse to working full time either because i can adapt my business and run evening events instead. I have spotted some jobs at the Hilton Metropole that I am applying for, an MSE person pointed me in the direction of a job on a housing estate but alas on looking at the job description I do not have all the essentials they are looking for - they need someone who knows all about benefits and local authority stuff (things I know nothing about really) because I would be expected to advise tenants.
If I can get my business account back into credit, that will be an enormous help plus I am planning to sell aloe stuff because I have the added advantage of being able to blog about it and will sell select things not the whole range e.g weightloss, makeup etc. So I have plans for extra money to come in.
I only have a small kitchen so this small Pot is the right size for me and even though it is 1.5ltrs I would still be able to get plenty of food out of it because I eat like a mouse anyway:rotfl:0 -
this might cheer you up

OO ERR missus:o
Feeling a tad under the weather today, I have an ear infection (not yet been to quacks) and today I have a thumping headache and my forehead is quite hot. Feeling rather queasy too and nearly passed out in Tesco's carpark earlier:(
I had another bout of extreme couponning and got £14.39 worth of shopping for 60p:cool: Including in that were savings too on sausages - buy 2 packs for £3 (these are their butchers choice ones) - I could have had a pack of 12 Thick Richmond Sausages for the same price but even though I like them wanted something a bit meatier. I also saved on chocolate oranges as my store had them on BOGOF but there was something on Twitter yesterday saying that Tesco were offering 3 for £5 and on BOGOF but my local one only had the BOGOF. Pity they had none of my favourites though - the ones with space dust in:(
I nearly bought a turkey breast off the whoopsie shelf but decided against it in the end but I did buy lean steak mince because I would have more use for that.
Watched Gok Wan last night - now I know where to look when I go shopping in Brum. I have never visited Mango - they had some lovely trousers and Forever 21 (I ventured into this store once and decided that they sold tat) - he found a lovely leather look skirt and a dreamy top. Good old Brummies - they picked the outfit for £50 cheaper option as opposed to the £250 option as being the best clothes lol. I followed that with a dose of Mary Portas who is also ace.0 -
Glad to see you are getting some money in from ebay, if nowhere else. I feel for you about looking for work in Brum. I didn't know they had the highest unemployment rate there. I have a friend looking there too, and they are finding it very hard as well
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Morning all
Spent most of yesterday on the sofa sleeping, still have ear infection and may ring docs today as the tcp just isnt helping. (docs rung and I have an appointment with the doc on Monday afternoon although I have been told that if my ears are worse then I must get an emergency appointment - will wait and see tomorrow as I am at quacks for my counselling session).
Cooked up a lovely sausage casserole yesterday in Pot, although elsewhere on MSE people have said that the Pot is too small and it only makes enough for one person, I have managed to get two meals out of it - I have added some handfuls of pasta and the sausage casserole has gone back on to cook. Sure a larger slow cooker would be great but I have a tiny kitchen so this suits me.
Short Bird has sent me a PM today with details of a job over in Atherstone which is quite far but it is a job that I can do easy peasy lemon squeezy so I rang them up about it and was told to email my CV across which I have done. The barn opens in May next year for weddings...I had better dust off my wedding planning diploma and start adding the letters after my name again Dip WP (Inst WP). (I am still not enthralled by weddings - I take take them or leave them if truth be known).
I might have another afternoon on the sofa. I seem to be sleeping like a log these days but then I am kept awake at night by screaming kids in the block next door plus their mother shrieking when she is bonking coupled with the noisy lads upstairs - stop dragging the furniture across the floor:mad:
