Oh, I had my first persimmon a few weeks ago; amazing. A little sweet for my taste TBH but I'll have it again in fruit salad mixing it up with something a little more acid or sour.

Now I need to summon up the courage to give dorian fruit a go.

If its ripe it won't hold together in a salad! it should be sensually sucked and slurped from the skin, where it goes down your throat with barely a chew, like an oyster (I'm not a chewer but a swallower...there is no way to say that without making people smirk). Its an excellent part of a meal with a loved one, with much potential for licking. The sweetness is offset very well by the slight saltiness of skin...on the wrist where is dribbled down before anyone gets over excited. Food is for before bed, not where it can make a mess of nice linen! Still...if you never get to bed.....

As a counterweight to the anti-mushroom brigade on here:

    MUSHROOMS , :iloveyou:

    - fried
    - baked
    - sauteed
    - grilled
    - dried
    - baked
    - raw (I always gobble a couple of raw ones while Mrs. Wheezy is cooking:))

thank you wheezy, I was feeling a little lonely. I was amazed to have them in an airport once for breakfast, sauteed, but then finished of with a dash of cream- normal- but also cooked with tarragon. I'm not a huge fan of tarragon, and wouldn't naturally put it with mushroon, but this was DELICIOUS. I've done it myself a couple of times since, instead of things like flat leaf parsley which I'd normally use.

DH is moving again, so I might be coming to Town to shift stuff in the car.....in summer heat on a friday. Madness!
  • Which bit of London is he moving too?

It'd probably be a lot cheaper for him to get a cab than you drive there and back?

About 15 minutes walk from his office :) At an amazing rate even for lodging. So good I can't help feel there will be something wrong with it.

He's got stuff to bring home that's a bit too much to do in a couple of train journeys especially in the heat, so if I drive up we can do it in one trip.

Great news for fir lir! Even if there is something wrong with it, it can't be as bad as the roof you had in Italy. Nobody could be that unlucky! Meantime you've proved you can live pretty much anywhere. Hope it works out great for him.

hehe, that's almost exactly what he said! The joy of lodging of course, is that its flexible. You don't like it : you move. You don't have anything else to worry about with the property, you turn up, sleep, clean up after yourself and go again. The only tricky part is finding the right place. DH is pretty easy going, but cleanliness and being able to sleep are musts.

We have been having absolutely glorious weather, much better than on last years holiday. It has been swimming pool days ever since we got here...no idea how long the weather will last but we are enjoying while we can!

I had a bit of a shock this morning while checking my bank account, my carefully budgeted finances have taken a hit by an auto renewal of our anti virus coming out early, it wasn't due to do so until Monday and the end result is we have £19 left to last us until Monday...eeek! But we have managed on less and I am sure we will get through.

Ahem, Avira AntiVir Personal is free and very, very good. Can't you cancel your paid-for virus scanner and spend the money on stuff like food?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

True. I was running AVG, but that has become quite resource hungry lately and I swapped it for Avira. Quite happy with it.

It seems a bit of a waste to spend money on a paid anti-virus program when you're on a tight budget.

There's plenty of good freeware antivirus/firewall/spyware applications out there.

For me it's a combination of Avira, ZoneAlarm and Malwarebytes.
