It's absolutely boiling here in town - I'm wearing the thinnest of cotton summer dresses, sitting still, and I'm still hot.

OH is doing a week-long trial in Reading, and after a day in court, then cycling back from Paddington in a suit with a heavy bag, he looked warm.

I like aubergines, they aren't the same as fungi, to my mind.

I don't like mushrooms, chocolate (I don't really have a sweet tooth at all) or dodgy meat. "Dodgy" in this sense includes meat that's mixed up and squahsed together, such as burgers or sausages, unless I know who did the mixing and squashing. In fact, I only eat meat a few times a year, but I eat fish quite a bit. We don't eat seafood or pork, though.

Has your oh always been observant with dietary laws? Mine couldn;t be less so! His fsavourite food of all is shellfish. I made a big effort when the aunt who taught me to make chicken soup came to stay....they are very involved in the synagogue and work there etc, but turns out they aren't observant either. One of their kids is.

Its pretty hot out of town, so you must be cooking. even though the valley we now live in is immense not a whisper of breeze today. Its so funny after all the wind we had earlier in the year.

The chippy didn't have gravy, so I'm let off having to try it :)

It rained while I was sitting in the car eating my chips (and dipping them into a small pot of curry sauce).

Today I learnt: Hammering makes a lot of noise ... and .... lots of people hammering, for a long time, makes way too much noise. Only small hammers ... but on steel domes and plates.

I kind of half made something today ... but didn't feel it went too well and never bothered finishing it off. It doesn't need much more work.. just need to hammer for 4-5 more minutes, do a spot of drilling, then do something else that I can't remember the name of, then make some jump rings and hammer those and attach them ..... and I'll have half a pair of badly matching earrings :)

The lurking nice people saved the day ... and I received the magic, missing numbers.

    Cheers.

oops - we tried for as mail on Sunday but they were sold out by 8pm.

It was only low 20s here but actually extremely pleasant on Bantham beach which seemed highly unlikely for England - sea was freezing tho. S Devon is the closet I am likely to get to you PN and you are definitely worth making the rest of the trip for.
    I think....

DD1 has just vomited, could be a bug from the millions of people we have been mixing with, too much sun, swimming and sea, a bug from the seawater, something we ate at the Sloop this evening or my mum's rather relaxed approach to food preparation and refrigeration. DD2 is also suggesting she is feeling unwell and now I am feeling a bit queasy but it may just be psychosomatic. All that talk of mushrooms didn't help (I vote for food of the devil if we are having a poll) but I do like aubergine (lightly drizzled in oil then bbq'd) and I am not too keen on chocolate either - ndg are you and I sockies?

Have you got lucozade with you michaels? Or better still ginger ale? IMO, if you think the kids could go down with something, and you might follow worth having one or other in stock.
