Not sure if chewy was asking for advice or just venting. It's hard for others to judge or give advice in such a private matter where every one and situation is different.

I don't think anyone has been giving inappropriate advice. lir and I have been telling him that he should talk and listen to his gf rather than guessing what he thinks she wants. It's hard to imagine any situation where that wouldn't apply, and we've said it precisely because everyone and every situation is different. Most of the other comments have been people merely sharing their own experiences of having children, having family on more than one continent, or both, or people saying how they would feel in such-and-such situation, or people warning against reading too much into any one person's advice, or people providing factual data about declining fertility with age. All this is useful info for Chewy to consider. Nobody's actually telling him whether or not to have a baby or buy a house.

Anyone sticking their head out of the NPT onto the main part of this board, can expect to find robust debate (at best). Anyone coming in here can expect to find people taking an interest in whatever they may say about their personal life. That's the nature of the thread.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Changing track a bit, has anyone done Martin's tightness test? It's very funny. I am 31% tight apparently.

I made very slow roasted lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, spiced red cabbage and other bits. It was special for us and very well received, which makes me happy. We ate late, I like time to enjoy the children in the morning instead of cooking, not have H asleep all afternoon with a stuffed belly and I like the dark and a romantic table with candlelight.

    Selfish but happy :)

sometimes its scary how similar we are. We had beef instead of lamb, but for the first time at Christmas, red cabbage and dauphinoise pots! (and sprouts, and stuffed tomatoes, and french peas and.....). we ate too early this year...because everything is so easy here this year...lots of grass, no need to redo haynets or muck out ....and amazingly (suddenly really light late afternoons) time to walk the dogs afterwards, with other people also escaping for the last of the light with dogs all in funny costumes. It was nice, but next year I will revert to later meal. Even if weather doesn't force it.

Really - I have been touting my kids on ebay, gumtree and even to random strangers on the street and still haven't been able to get rid of them.

I have to say that the worst thing is looking after a couple of kids with D&V whilst you and the DW have it as well - so far only done once and I hope never to be repeated. Before xmas I was trying to contact the local health trust to sort out their booking muckup and the first thing you got on the phone connecting was basically a message not to visit the hospital, especially if you had kids or elderly, because they had noro-virus. Not sure what you were supposed to do in an emergency.
That has to be an easy question to answer... one you can get rid of quite easily, even during a slow market :)

I was with my first GF for about 13 years, starting very young, I suspect the fact that neither of us ever thought about taking things further (we rented etc) in hindsight is a very good sign that it wasn't (shouldn't have been) a forever thing. However I don't think 5 years whilst still young is too long for things not to change.

I would say with kids though I wish I had had them much younger when I had more energy.
    I think....

I think it said 67% when I did it a few days a go. I was very surprised.....maybe I misremember though.

But I am fairly tight, dh wanted to go sales shopping today and I suggested we couldn't really justify it atm and instead we're strimming down brambles today, essentially removing a hedges worth. I have compromised and said I'd go to one of the smaller local towns for some shopping later (but might have worn him out gardening by then)

25% tight here. Some questions were irrelevant though, which is always annoying in quizzes.

e.g. Have you ever used the leftover milk from cereal to put in your coffee or tea?
I don't have milk on cereal, or in coffee.

e.g. Have you ever re-used teabags.
No, but then I've probably only ever bought one box of teabags in my life as I don't drink it really

e.g. Have you ever deliberately waited to charge your mobile phone at work.
No, but I've only had a mobile phone a few years and so haven't been employed .... if I had been employed all that time I probably would have done.

e.g. Have you ever snuck your own drinks/snacks into a cinema
Not very relevant as I've been to the cinema about 3x in the past 14 years.
