How are we to stick to the advice "breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and sup like a peasant" if we have to squeeze a dinner and tea in there as well.
Well it's not like I need an much of an excuse to strap the feedbag on anyway...:D
The version I know is, "breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and dine like a pauper"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Christmas Dinner is an exception. It's the main meal of the day, and eaten starting at about 3pm or 4pm.
I use the above almost exactly the same. Maybe it's a south london thing.:)
'Tea' is cup of tea and something small
Dinner is evening meal (for us @ 7pm).
Xmas day we still call it Lunch but eat it when it's ready which can be any time between 3.30 - 5 pm.0 -
My Christmas break took a distinct turn for the worse yesterday night.
We all went to bed, and at about 1am, Isaac started squeaking. He's in a separate room, but there's a door between his and ours, which we leave open. His bedroom's a bit odd, because it can only be reached via mine and OH's room, or on the other side, from my parents' room.
From about 1am to 2.30am I was mostly in his bed or next to it, becasue he was a bit hot and bothered and restless. Then, at 2.30am, he projectile vomited all over himself and the bed.
I woke OH up properly (he'd been dozing during the squeaking) and he put Isaac in the shower and then took him into our bed while I stripped the single bed, put the linen on to wash, and rinsed the duvet and hung it up to dry.
Isaac then threw up a little bit, only on himself, but that was his second (and last) pair of clean pyjamas, so we put his last pair of clean pants on and I put the second lot of vomit-covered washing on, and the first lot in the dryer. Then we all went to sleep, for about 30 minutes.
At about 5.30am, Isaac really threw up again, all over OH. A bit on the sheets etc, but mostly all over OH, and a bit on himself. So they both went into the shower, while I stripped another bed. Then we wrapped Isaac up in his dressing gown, and OH took him to curl up on the sofa and watch Frozen Planet, as Isaac didn't want to lie down. They both went to sleep there at about 6.30am, and I went back to bed.
Isaac said something curious for a 6 year old during his third strip-and-shower - he said, "looking after a child is hard work if he's ill, isn't it?" We reassured him that we were happy to look after him.
He was OK today, not bouncy, but OK. Then about 6pm, the other end went, and the poor lad started down below.
He's now asleep, looking very pale and woeful....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Could be worse- imagine your OHs birthday was BEFORE christmas
My darling OH's birthday was today - Boxing Day. It started well, with him being vomited all over. Poor sod!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Do you want to buy a house or have a baby?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It would mean a complete change of lifestyle and moving away from all our friends in the fairly near future in order to be somewhere where we could reasonably bring up children.
While some parents do utterly change their lifestyles, you don't have to change everything.
Of course some things do alter. But it's not essential for everything to be different, honest.
I was 27, and OH 26, when the Snow Frog showed up. Slightly earlier than we wholly intended. Well, entirely unintended.
Small children can be very adaptable. Isaac's sat and coloured pictures in a wide variety of restaurants and pub gardens, and we've dragged him all over the place. He'll happily sleep anywhere, so long as he knows we're within earshot.
We still live in central London, have friends dropping by, etc. You don't have to move to the suburbs and buy a volvo....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Hope he recovers, sounds like Norovirus, especially since your dad was sent away being suspected with it.
Lasts about 3-4 days, quarantine is the only thing for it.0 -
MissK got in there first with the 'you have been exposed to it' bit and is probably the expert on such things so how possible is it for parents not to pick these things up having been vomited over etc by unwell child especailly as before you know they have it they have probably been kissing, coughing over etc said parents...
MissK did you ever expalin who 'the boys' are?
ETA: Another vomiting bug question, these things seem to go round every year or two and are always non-virus - does this mean that for some reason having had it once does not bring any immunity?I think....0 -
Satnav chargers - I always used to buy a home charger for the satnav and charge it before I leave, it means you can set the destination before you leave the house. Get a cheap one from Ebay, they tend to be more reliable than in car chargers.
The maps may be out of date, does that really matter to you? We asked OH's brother that (he was here for Christmas, and left today). He's 3 weeks away from his medical finals. He was pretty sure that it was a virus, not food poisoning, to my Mama's relief.
He says stomach bugs like that are similar to cold viruses, in that they mutate....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
