I'm going to get pilloried for asking this, but have the NP noticed the startling difference between the official Military Wives version and the live version they did for the BBC? Unless I'm mistaken, only one's in tune. You can hear them both on youtube:

    Official version - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hR6O7VxKaQ

    Live version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h39vBsiR68

Is this the power of Auto-tune?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Do you find 1m comfortable for two people to pass each other?

Strangelyaltough my mortgage company don't do consent to let it would seem if you phone them and say you have a work contract requiring you to move away for 6-12 months then they do. However income multiples are an issue at the momnet as I am not planning to earn a decent monthly amount until next April for tax reasons. My lil bro is interested in the deal but he is working aborad and already has a btl in this country.

No, at 1m there is no intention for people to pass if someone has hot food in their hand, otherwise it is fine.

So getting the new mortgage is the issue. One way round may be to increase the mortgage on the current place so that you have a larger deposit. BTL mortgages are generally given on the basis of potential rental income, so your salary may be irrelevant.

On the whole, the rent on a £300k+ house would not be likely to support anything like a £300k+ btl mortgage. That means raising additional capital, perhaps against the family home, which may cause concern. Maybe seek a friend/family to put up some capital to support this venture in return for a share of the profits?

I'm lost here. Presumably I'm being very dim, but if the rent wouldn't be anywhere near enough to support the mortgage, then what profits would there be to share - at least in the medium term when HP aren't going anywhere in particular?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Michaels is intending to do a conversion jobby and add £100k more value to the property than the conversion costs.

we're getting an amazing christmas present! A friend..the one whose baby boy I tale care of quite a bit, has taken a copy of our door key and is going to slip up and let the chickens out, feed the out door creatures then come over and let the dogs out so that we can have a lie in TOGETHER instead of one of us (usually darling dh ) goes out does critters and comes back with a hot drink for the other one.

I'm so going to set up the teasmade again for christmas morning!

Isn't that a thoughtful gift? (she says mainly its because her MiL is staying and she could do with some time alone and the animals are the perfect excuse. ;))

    Thanks GDB.

OK Have now checked back over michaels's posts. I thought the BTL mortgage was for letting the new property after he'd finished extending it, and I couldn't see the profit in the letting part of that. However, I now see that he just wants to extend it and sell it (which makes sense to me) but may need a BTL mortgage to get it, and might possibly live in it for a bit, and maybe in some other rented house too, and let out his home. Have I got that right now?

Frankly I think both he and Doozer are insane to put themselves through so many moves, but each to their own....

Sorry, I should have been keeping up with all of this. I'm afraid I didn't bother going back over michaels's posts and getting my facts straight before asking my question, but there are some things to get done before my dad arrives on Thursday. I didn't feel able to think about preparing for Christmas until the funeral was over, so now I am playing catch up.

<... goes off to empty stuff out of car to make space for fetching Christmas tree ....>

I agree, Lydia. There's an emotional cost to all these moves.

no rules on keeping up :)

I hope you have a CALM and loving christmas you darling woman. Your refusal to be beaten by life even fighting against that you are running on empty is so inspirational. I'm proud of you and feel very, very lucky to know you.
