the tree is at last done. we found some coloured lights we wante to put in a window that faces where we park and a long stretch of road, and which could probably be seen from at least one of the two villages in that direction. But predicatably the light don't work, lol. I really wan out door christmas lights. I know its ''non u'' but good fun. Just white ones in our pollarded trees would be nice.....to go on the want list with my life sized out door nativity scene. One day....one day. I did say I'd do it ith shop dummies that you sometimes see on ebay, but dh reckons they' look a bit scary.
Well, I like outdoor lights, and I don't care if they're non-u. I prefer just lights being lights (whether white or coloured) and draw the line at writing, pictures, inflatable snowmen, etc, though.
The kids and I are hoping to deal with tree, lights, and other decorations tomorrow. In previous years we've done them a bit earlier, and they've been asking to do them for a week or so, but I couldn't face it until after the funeral. It's going to involve rearranging some furniture, I think, and we need to do some getting ready for my dad's visit, so a busy day tomorrow.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I love white lights draped in a small tree.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

My parents offered us a tree for the front garden of our house when the work was finished and we will no doubt give it some lights but I guess that will be next Christmas now.
Any thoughts on a tree that will grow not too large (15-20 feet?) but look interesting all year and give some shade for the car without dropping too much sap or other nasties? I'm thinking cherry but may be something that will have leaves year round would be less stark in winter?I love white lights draped in a small tree.I think....0 -
won't birds eat the cherries, then sit in the tree and dump acidic red droppings all over your car?0

Do cherry trees actually do cherries? May be it is a cherry blossom tree i am thinking of?chewmylegoff wrote: »won't birds eat the cherries, then sit in the tree and dump acidic red droppings all over your car?I think....0

Well, my parents used to have a small cherry tree in their back garden and it definitely produced cherries. There were only about three of them a year mind you, and I ate them all.0

Just watch it doesn't all go down the pan! :rotfl:
I bet the manufacturer's flush, though...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Lovely day, today. My best mate and her family (husband, 2 year old daughter) came for lunch, then we all went to the park, and when it got too cold, to the Museum of London.
The flat's not what you could call finsihed, but the kitchen's clear enough to cook and then eat in. And Isaac played really well with Zoe - they manage to get on together amazingly, given that one's a 6 year old boy, and the other a 2 year old girl....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
