fwiw I chose my course because it was meant to be the best in the country for that subject. In retrospect I would not hve chosen that college again, and would have chosen a more sociable location with less good course content. thats probably a bit contraversial, but while dh still goes to Oxford stuff now, round the world even, I only go back if an event I ant to go to happens to be happening on the property...that about three times since I guess...
If you hadn't would you have met DH?

I'm going for the frosties necklace as it won't need painting so saves time.

How old is she? Does she have pets/hobbies?
I picked up a 'cat language' book so far (which is just a nice picture book of cats really, nothing that insightful) and will probably get some luxe bath things and sticks in oil from TK Maxx of they have anything left.

    I wonder if viva's watching BBC1. It's about books/libraries and e-books.

If I'd gone to Uni, which I didn't, it would have been in 1979-1982..... making most of you lot whippersnappers.

i am very interested in the frosties necklace, although i would probably eat it before i could give it to her. especially if there was any whole milk around. frosties and full fat milk. mmm.

she is 66. her hobbies appear to me to be nagging my dad, telling my dad off, belittling my dad, complaining about my dad to anyone who will listen, and annoying me when i'm trying to watch sport by offering up her own commentary.

what i really want to get them is a proper sized TV to go in their front room, rather than the silly little thing that is in there now, but my budget is about £50 tops.

When at school in 6th form, I applied to uni's in John O'groats & Lands end, as they're the 2 furthest places away from where I am, & that was obviously the thing to do.
Not to study geography .... as neither of those have a Uni.

To all parents of teenagers, that would get called a Nunu. :D Be briliant in our house as well as our dog chases the vacuum anyway.

Speaking of teenagers, DDs getting uni offers now, mostly up north, about 200 miles away or 100 miles away. None local yet.

Any thoughts on what's best? Would NPs prefer your kids to study near or far away?

I moved 6500 miles to get to uni, so i'm opting for far away.

Have you spoken to DD about what they would prefer? Or is the question about what you would prefer? Because that then leads to the question of wheteher a 17/18/19yo young un knows what they want!
