Thank you very much NDG - Nice People are the best, you ask some random question on a very specific issue and get chapter and verse from a renowned counsel...now if anyone has any specific questions on the home office bureaucracy relating to the criminal justice system or staff rostering at airports, please don't hesitate to ask :)

Re Right to abode - latest UKBA website seems to suggest that you only have the right to return if you have been out of the country for less than 2 years?

I know all about rostering for UKBA staff at airports. They have 40 counters and man 6. for 3 plane loads of people. It's genius. You lose the will to live halfway.

Re: hypothetical question, if she has right to abode, don't think she would have lost it. But I'm pretty sure a visitor visa is in a no-switching category so she would have to apply in JA.

More on green snot later, I have to go and measure some DNA and RNA.

This is by and away the worst time of year for me. The days are still getting shorter and shorter, the weather's getting colder. Spring is 4 months away. I've been out for a walk, but it's not that much fun. I normally cheer up a bit in January as the days lengthen again.

SAD light is on and the heater is on, plus I have the NP to moan to. ;)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have never had it cleaned.

Every so often, I sprinkle it with talc and leave it to absorb stuff, and then shake it enthusiastically.

My gown is dry-cleaned from time to time.

I thought that the last thing you want is a new-looking wig, if you want to be taken seriously by the court?

Yes we had an earlier post with those two in, my post was a response to that as well as a reply to NDG, I thought I would attempt to redress the balance;)

(iii) is financially wholly or mainly dependent on the relative present and settled in the United Kingdom; and

[this is going to be the tricky bit. It sounds as if she's not wholly or mainly dependent on the daughters in the UK, as over half her income comes from property in Jamaica, and some of the rest from her pension in the UK]

So she could give her assets to the daughters so that they generate the income and would then be supporting her....

According to the tabloids, she could enter on a visitor's visa and never leave......
