Woohoo! Congratulations NDG. I'm sure it was richly deserved.

You say "in my area of law..." - are we allowed to know what your area of law is?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

My computer is very infected (As in, I've had to call in the experts) with a computer virus, so if you don't hear from me for a while, you know why.

(Also, if you get an email from me, or a private message with an attachment, DON'T OPEN IT. )

I've added to the gallery esewhere, but it occurs to me this might ipact on PN's income?

Someone I know here does an online album thing, maybe I should work out how to do that.

I'm really impressed with how well the simple ''dust seal'' works. And also, the brcks we're uncovering now are lovely...it a shame we're ging to plaster over them really!:o I'm not a huge fan of exposed things in settings like ours though, and they'd be a dust source.

how does a kindle work? when you get it, does it only interface with amazon (in an itunes/apple kind of relationship) or can you download books on to it from anywhere you like.

can you buy vouchers which then act as credit against online downloads (in the same way as itunes vouchers).

i tried looking on amazon but it wasn't particularly clear.

The main interface is Amazon, if you buy a 3G version you get a direct link to Amazon when you turn it on.

But you can connect the kindle to a PC and drag and drop any book you download. You can send files wirelessly but they charge you for it.

I don't think they do Kindle vouchers but Amazon giftcards will work just as well. :)

Let us know which one it is.

Perhaps the surgeon will put it in formalin, so you can show us;)

Seriously, I've had 4 viruses, off the internet in my time and always managed (I think:eek:) to clear them with the help of the techies on here.

The first infection I got was just one of those silly "Love Bug" things; but the other three were attempts to get at my personal (financial) information. Castration is too good for the evil little minds that create such fraud.

Am I the only one who listens to their computer and hear it making rumbling noises and then do a Ctrl + Alt + Del to get a list of what it is getting up to - only to find an almost unintelligible explanation on the web?

You can get help on here from Techie Forum, or if you think that's too public you could try the site 'Bleeping Computer.'

When this happened to me, I contacted Malwarebytes, which I use (free) and one of their techies held my hand through the clean-up process. He was brilliant and never seemed to sleep. :)

My computer was so messed-up I couldn't run any anti malware programs, as the bug closed them all down & denied access. It also redirected Google searches. It was a total pain, and I'm still not sure how it got in.

I surf in a Sandboxed environment now, just in case....;)

It's scary how malware now knows exactly where to hide. I had stuff hiding in the encryption software for my banking password vault.

I was pleased I'd made a duplicate vault on an encrypted USB stick, so I could just annihilate the one on the computer. :)
