We had an old 1960s Parkray solid fuel fire, the only fire in the house, so we'd pull the sofa close to it for warmth - and nan sat beside the fire and put her mug of coffee on the top and it slid straight off as it had a rounded top.0 -

Saw Eddie Izzard last year
I went in .... and there was a certificate stating who the Postmistress was ..... it was genuinely Edie Izzard. And out she came, she must have been 80 if she was a day,
Now .... that sounds a bit unlikely doesn't it, so I've Googled it to prove it

I've seen these around various audiobook threads in the forum but haven't used half of them yet, or needed to. Most of them are free or have a mix of free/for sale books. A lot of them are recycling each others classics IYSWIM0 -
I'm sorry Lydia, Lord knows you and the children don't deserve the trials you are sent. Thinking of you xEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have no idea whether mine are floral, woody, spicy or fresh either in fact. In fact, 2 minutes ago, I didn't even know there could be such a question!0 -
I wouldn't dream of buying my wife perfume without checking in advance what she wants. Otherwise, it ends up at the charity shop toot sweet!
Actually, that is the way I obtained some of my posh perfume in the past. I knew a woman who ran off with the boss of a firm and he was bl00dy rich - and he brought her some perfume back from some trip abroad and she took one look at it and said "I can't wear that, the Secretary at work wears it" .... and gave it to me next time I was round there.
Can't remember what it was, some orange box.... I'd remember the name if I heard it again.
I am horror struck that somebody could disrespect a gift costing so much; if somebody's ever spent £20-30 on a present of perfume for me I'd wear it out of respect that they thought so much of me that they spent a small fortune and time to choose it.0 -
Saw Eddie Izzard last year
Eddie Izzard was on OHs course at uni, til EI dropped out.
We saw a couple of impromtu shows of his, but we just thought him to be drunk and showing off, never realised that he would make a career out of it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The good thing about the Kindle is it's a dead easy present
Dad's decided to get Mum one. He thought the 3G one would be better because she won't have to faff around linking it to the PC. I tried to explain that once its on the wifi its set up, but he wasn't convinced. Plus they turn off the wifi whenever they are not using the computer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
