Life is a loyalty card.
OH has just gone to take his car for a clean, and I shout after him, "Don't forget the loyalty card."
I have loyalty cards for Tesco, Nectar, M&S, independant car cleaners, costa, nero, boots, holland & Barratt, wickes, body shop, M&S b'day cards.
The latter 4 were taken once and haven't been used again.
Tesco's the only one I get much use of. Turn the points into airmiles, then eurostar. Got a surprise eurostar trip to Paris on my last "big" birthday courtesy of DW (took her on a surprise trip to Barcelona before). I'm one of those eejits that believe gifts are secondrate presents, and events are better.
Guys, take my advice. surprise weekend holiday for both of you. Sort out the kids, find her passport and say your'e going away for the weekend, but don't say where!
Well, try it if you don't believe me. Actually girls, that's still good advice.

Unless you;re my dh. I can't stand surprises, hate them....even good ones leave me unnerved.
Its obviously a control thing, a little like an eating disorder....I like to be in control of what hapens to me, even if its to my detriment. I've always liked being prepared, (had a weird thing as a kid where for a while I went pretty much everywhere with a packed suitcase...just in case..:o) but its getting more ingrained as I get older.
I need a new passport next year and I'm very seriously considering not bothering.
:o I can't imagine life withot the option of travelling, but it might be a bit of a relief in some ways. 0 -

I really wanted a son. We're very heavily weighted towards girls in my immeadiate family and I've always thought a boy would even it up a bit and get a bit of a better deal. but I love having neices, wish I were closer to them still, and a little girl like lydia's noone could deny would be wonderful.
I love having a son. I'd like to have a daughter, too. i have a wonderful relationship with my mother, and I'd like to have the chance to be on the other end of that.
I also had a very close relationship with my Granny, too (my maternal grandmother). As did my siblings, and my mother, too.
I wasn't a terribly girly-girl myself, though. I never have thought of shopping as a lesiure activity. I can knit and sew properly - my Granny taught me. But then, so can my Bruv, because Granny taught all of us! Bruv can cook decently, too. My Mama thinks it's a crucial life skill.
My Dad had lots of aunts; his mother was the youngest of 5 sisters. He speaks of them all still with great affection, and we saw a lot of 3 of them when we were growing up. The 4th we saw much less often, because she lived in Scotland.
Isaac has two uncles and two aunts - my sisters and brother, and OH's brother. He sees more of my lot, but gets on very well with all of them. He does call my brother, "Uncle Bruv", though. A little confusing, perhaps!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That is too cute:rotfl:.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

We are not as surprised about you not being girly-girly NDG, perhaps because you talk less about having yours nails gelled etc.
I have a passport for ID but we haven't travelled abroard for a while - the hassle and expsnse with 3 little ones seems too off putting, plus I think all the kids passports are now expired so that is quite a big expense before going anywhere.
I have over 500 quid of points on my nectar card and with no pin to protect them worry that losing it would be like loosing £500 cash. I should spend them but I keep hoping they will have some special deal like tesco making them worth more.I think....0 -

Maybe a compromise would be to use them at Homebase when they have a money off weekend. There must be something they stock which you could use for the extension. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I'd be nervous to leave them too long in case the deal folds for any reason.

Might not be a bad idea having just spent best part of 400 quid on made to measure blinds - MSE tip for next time: should have gone for smaller standard blind sized windows. Still it will finally mean we can get rid of all the net curtains left by the previous owners, there is something about net curtains I find deeply depressing.vivatifosi wrote: »Maybe a compromise would be to use them at Homebase when they have a money off weekend.
