They used to be made out of wire, which is definitely a problem for livestock, but you can get them made out of bamboo now.

The only one I launched went up and continued to rise as long as the flame was burning, so I am not convinced that they are a fire hazard in open country. But having launched that one I decided it was a poor idea to launch any more. It didn't go straight up but made a bit of a bee-line for the neighbour's roof!

a house in Trowbridge went up in flames because one lodge on the apex of the roof or something.

I think they are stunning, but, with barns packed with hay and straw very close to my house and livestock I admit they give me the collywobbles in greater measuer than they give be pleasure at their beauty

One day it will be us - well, some of us, anyway. The question is, will we remember these conversations, and will we act on our past selves' advice and go into a home sooner rather than later?

my default is that it won't be me...as I should have dh to take care of me when I'm going, , but I don't have kids to look out for me in any case. I'm hoping dh will be able to afford care in his own home when he's very, very old, or has a younger wife who dotes on him. his granddad had a second wife with no children and the family now pays for her care in her (their) home. I think that's wonderful.

NP, just seen a bit on BBC Breakfast that Newsround is is doing a special on Autism and Aspergers at 4.40pm* today "My Autism and Me". Hopefully it will raise awareness among children, as well as adults.

    * Not sure of actual start time. BBC Breakfast said 4.45pm, the link above says 4.40pm and my Sky planner is saying 5pm. Whatever time it starts, its due to be on today!
I missed it then ... my Aspergers is special every day :)

The old should be getting attendance allowance, based on the care needs, not PN.

PN should be claiming Carers Allowance as a result of providing care to old, if old is recieving attendance allowance.

Neither are means tested PN, so get in there...
Carers Allowance is, you can't earn more than £100/week.

Anyway - as I see it, the minute I get ONE penny for doing all of this it gives the green light to everybody to assume I'll be there 24/7 forever.

I'd not be taking carers' allowance even if it were 4x the amount and if there were no criteria! It's a license for everybody to assume everything's tickety boo.

The Doc phoned while I was around today and said they're not sure if the immobility is real or imagined.... and the Doc said there's definitely some dementia kicking around. So, every day goalposts are moved a little or a lot.

I have! He was at the Milton Keynes Arena back in the 80s. I was expecting it to be a rehash of his older stuff but it was all new, sounded like adlibs and it was sidesplitting!

A suprising portion of the audence had smuggled in whisky in small flasks .I think you're going to enjoy it!

How easy is it to use NDG? I'm not a luddite, but I'm not great with technology.

    Is itunes unavoidable?
Do you have to copy your own cd's via itunes?

As a hard -working public service worker I demand to know how he's managed to use my garden shed as a venue. I'll be flying there in one of my gold-plated helicopters to investigate! ;)
