Oooh can we have other examples of songs we misheard when young?

My family had a record of Flanders and Swann. One of the songs has the line "They stole both my Botticellis when they robbed my country place". I thought it was potted jellies, and couldn't see why anyone would want to steal them.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

One man went to mow, went to mow a meadow, one man and his dig and a sausage roll and a bottle of pop, went to mow a meadow.....
    I sang:
    One man went to mow,
    Went to mow a meadow,
One man and his dog, Spot, bottle of pop, sausage roll, went to mow a meadow.

And sometimes the last line became:
One man and his dog, Spot, bottle of pop, sausage roll, Old Mother Ivey had a cow and didn't know how to milk it.

One thing that's not taken into consideration when it comes to looking after older people is that you have NO control over what they want. They want it, they want it now. They are the older one; they have the 'power'.

And you do have to have eyes up your 4rse about where they are/what they're doing ... but without the authority.

When a parent is a carer, they have responsibility and authority.
When a child is a carer to an old, they have HUGE feelings of responsibility, which are difficult to list - yet no authority as the old has not given authority.

When you're dealing with somebody who is an adult, mentally all there (except those odd moments), still trying to achieve what a 20 year old would be wanting to achieve... and you're trying to monitor them, slow them down, stop them, without any authority .... it's hell. Especially when you have two randomly going about stuff all over the place.

Having a bad day.... the old has reached an angry stage and an anxious stage... and is acting irrationally as they're trying to 'sort things out'. Not actually achieving anything, but adamant and furious and their eyes are like the devil from fear and uncertainty.

It's definitely been a low morning, which I've survived.

Currently awaiting two inbound calls before I can take the ill old out (I said I'd drive as the old was adamant they were going out today and going out in their car .....!!!!). I might get caught between having to go "now" (or the old will get their car out), and having to wait for important calls. The old is not up to driving to the end of the drive I'm afraid... seriously not, but full of denial fuelled by anger.... I think my car would be nudged out of the way so they could get out (currently blocking them in).

Ho hum.... lunchtime.... so, off to sort that out now for the well/frail old.

Within 1 minute of getting the results up on the screen, I got a telephone call from one of the providers! Talk about pushy! That surely is too much!
That happened to me. I got something like 95 quotes on the screen and one call within 1 minute. I thought "f*** me, hope all 95 won't call!!" I don't think I got another call though, just the one. And no spam that I remember.

But that call was really frightening.... thinking of 94 to come :)

    Misheard songs:

    Sue Lawley by The Police
Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley, Sue Lawley,
    I feel Sue Lawley...

    Banister by Imagination
    Banister ah-ah
    Banister aaaah-ah

    I Try by Macy Gray
I try to walk away and I choke
I try to walk away apple crumble

Bah. If you're still awake there is still time for something bad to happen. And after that there's always the possibility of night terrors.

    ;)

Well the wickets aren't falling as fast as they could be.

I don't really get night terrors apart from the time when I was living in the UK during the 2006-7 Ashes. I'd fall asleep listening to TMS and wake up in the night to some horrible things. The second test at Adelaide being a particularly scarring event.

I still am convinced that Errol of hot chocolate fame sings:

    "I believe in miracles,
wear a bra, you sexy thing..."

    135-4 - nice lbw.

Am now hopeful of a win in this match.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I got cramp in the swimming pool in my last lap meaning I did 967m rather than a km. That's as bad as it got today.

I've never had that happen to me in the deep end fortunately. What do you do if that happens? Drown?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Well my arms still worked so I made it to the side ok. Also I suspect that if drowning was a serious prospect 3,500,000,000 years of evolution would have kicked in to help me save myself. I've been in some tricky situations swimming in the sea when I've gotten very cold and beaten up by the waves and it's amazing how strong the survival instinct is.

Still it would have been nice if one of the life guards had come over to see why I was swearing my head off and struggling to haul myself out of the pool.

Me too. The Indian tail can score runs but tend not to hang about.

It's a case of knocking one of these two over and then getting Dhoni out.

The Turbanator is the man in after Dhoni; he averages less than 20. Below him, nobody averages more than 15.

Quite a lot of that 3,500,000,000 years evolution would have been as a fish, though. :)
