The fridge delivery driver is running 2 hours late, I'm told.

I have still not decluttered the conservatory. But I have taken everything out of the old fridge and put it in the cool box, and squeezed all the freezer stuff into the separate freezer. I have taken out all the shelves and cleaned everything. It took ages. I'm glad I wasn't aware what revolting gunk had collected underneath the crisper drawer. :o At least it wasn't anywhere near getting in contact with any food.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
  • so its yummy at room temperature.

I also hate cleaning out crispers.

Oh, here's a question, why do I always get icky waer at the bottom of the fridge....is my temperature setting wrong? could it be a sign of a broken seal somehow making compensation?

Its probably a blocked drain tube (sometimes ice).

If the water is clean you may be able to pour some hot water down to clear it. If water is "icky" you may need to clean it with some wire or similar.

crispers - do they really keep veg crisp?

I have one fridge draw for fruit and one for veg/ salad. I buy the lettuce in bags and it always goes soggy.

when I'm a bit more organised than I am these days I actually keep meat in one crisper and any fridge dair stuff other than big milk in the other. salads go in a plastic box in the next shelf.....the rest is mainly jars of stuff from the year after I was born or something.

    mmm...pickled lemons....

Tomatoes at room temperature taste about 10 times as good as chilled toms.

I just had a check in my fridge. I lied! There is pineapple in there, and bread.

My fridge is a Bosch with equal freezer part, bottles, cans attachments and 3 plastic drawers.

I don't really rate the Bosch as good as my old Zanussi. The Zanussi lasted around 18 years, felt bigger and had no problems what so ever. The Bosch has a dicky light, door handles that are cracked under normal use within a few months, noisier and seems smaller inside despite being the same external dimensions.

You just can't get the quality of FF these days! :D

When I buy a fridge, freezer or FF, it'll just be a cheap one. It won't be gadgetylicious at all. Never used a posh fridge, so not missing anything.

When I have fresh cauli and brocolli, I do like to cut them up immediately into florets, then spray them with water and store them in a lidded plastic box - they keep fresh like that for at least a week and I can just grab how much I want.... better than trying to cut out just what I need and still have the rest rolling about. If I've got the knife out and am about to cut one up and make a mess I'd rather do it in one hit.

Bananas and watermelon are dodgy in the fridge. Bananas turn black and melon is soggy then leaves a persistent smell. :(

Our fridge (now we've dealt with its fault) is pure dead brilliant. The fridge bit has two doors with shelves that can hold any amount of stuff. Freezer's bit more modest, though.

Always fancied a proper American fridge freezer. Seen them pop up on ebay or freecycle from time to time as there's an area near us where lots of American expats live and often dispose of their fridges before returning to the US. You'd need a "man with a van" to collect them though.

I still haven't decided what fridge to get. I find it a really hard choice. I still want the corner one like NDG's mother's fridge but dh said suppose it dies, we have a kitchen built around it, the company goes out of business then the fridge dies: there is nothing else that will fit the space.:(
