    I'm pleased with it, thanks.

Obviously September isn't the ideal month for it, but here's some data so far:

    Peak power: 3.924 kW
Best day so far: 17.434 kWh (pays £7.82)
Total yield over 17 days since commissioning: 196.1 kWh (pays £87.95)
Mean daily yield so far: 11.54 kWh (pays £5.17)

I can't estimate the probable effect on my electricity bills yet, because the new meter (that doesn't go backwards) was only fitted this morning.

Must feel great that your always making/saving money though

    Not this time. :D

Oh yes! :D The other day at work I bumped into my friend who's recently had them fitted too, and we both said in unison, "Yesterday was a bad day, wasn't it? I only made ..." and then we laughed, and agreed that Thursday the previous week had been really good.

And I don't even have to do anything now they're up there. It just happens all by itself. (Well, I do have to email in my meter readings every quarter, but that's hardly arduous. :))

Interestingly, even though my bills for buying electricity from the grid (eg when it's dark outside) will be coming down a long way imminently, I now feel more motivated to switch things off and find ways to reduce our usage, and our gas & water usage too. I need to switch my tariff as well (normal tariff for buying in from the grid, I mean).
They're predicting a heatwave next week. Should put a few bob in your pocket.

Oooh, I hadn't been looking at the forecast. Thanks for the tip. That'll be nice. It'll be even nicer if we get a heatwave next June when the days will be so much longer than now. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Funny story with you and your friend, who'd have ever though that would happen 20 years ago :A

You will be doing your washing overnight as it will be cheaper to sell than use!?

Maybe they will. I do accept that those of us who are doing it are only making money out of it on the back of pushing prices up for everyone else, so in that case, yes, there is a parallel with BTL. But there's no parallel with the aspect of BTL where the LL, by owning the property, has removed it from the FTB market so there are fewer to go round and more people miss out altogether. Neither is there any parallel with the tendency of a minority of BTL LLs to ignore their legal responsibilities and provide Rachmann-esque accommodation to vulmerable people.

No, you do your washing during the day. Even with an export meter, it's better to use what you generate rather than export it and buy in. You only get 3.1p/kWh for exporting it, which is a lot less than you have to pay to get energy back from the grid at night. Anyway, most people don't have export meters. You just have a generation meter that measures how much you generate, and then you are deemed to have exported half of it. So in terms of usage, it means that during the day your electricity is free, but at night it isn't. The real money isn't from exporting it, though, but just from generating it. You get 43.3p/kWh for generating it, regardless of whether you use it yourself or export it.

That was the bit i didn't realise.

I was joking about the BTL bit

You have took an expensive risk and i hope your rewarded for being bold :T

To me the feel good factor looks worth every bit as much as the money side of it.
