Actually, noticed this the other day and wondered if it was worth looking into.

I read somewhere that in the US most people over 50 are advised to take a low-dosage aspirin every day to ward off CVD.
And that they were working on a "polypill" of supplements that might prevent or delay some common problemsTaking one vitamin B pill a day from middle age could protect your memory as you grow older – and even ward off Alzheimer’s, British researchers say.
It would be helpful if they defined middle age so I knew when to see about starting taking it. The study does say they gave the stuff to "pensioners", though, so let's hope by the time I get to pension age, they've got some more data and some more precise guidelines.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

From the article:But while the team said those in middle age could benefit from the treatment, they stressed they must speak to their doctor.
High-dose vitamins may trigger cancer and are known to fuel existing cancers. They may also react with medicines including arthritis and psoriasis drugs.

My family has a reassuringly low incidence of cancer, but I regard myself as genetically at risk for dementia.
I don't know the details, but wish I did. I've heard that high -dose Vitamin A seems to promote cancers in smokers, but know nothing about vit B. It would be helpful if the doctors were specific and named the vitamins.
Isn't Alzheimers one of the diseases whose sufferers are at less risk of cancer anyway? :cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
