I've already missed my opportunity to go first, insofar as first is relevant if the other person's moved out anyway. And yes, absolutely I would like to go fast - but dementia is never fast. That's why I want to avoid it - not to prolong life but to prolong quality of life for as much as possible of whatever life span I end up with.I don't know the details, but wish I did. I've heard that high -dose Vitamin A seems to promote cancers in smokers, but know nothing about vit B. It would be helpful if the doctors were specific and named the vitamins.
Isn't Alzheimers one of the diseases whose sufferers are at less risk of cancer anyway?
I don't know any details either. At the moment I'm not thinking about it too much, and hoping that by the time I'm old enough for these kinds of strategies to be relevant, they'll have more data to go on. I'm not a smoker, and never have been, BTW.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I'm not thinking of living longer so much- people with Parkinson's live longer than healthy people but I doubt they get more out of the extra quantity of life given that the quality takes such a hit.
But if we're living longer with chronic diseases, delaying those diseases sounds like a good deal to me. Especially as dementia is so destructive. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I'm convinced there was a movie (or tv show) with the Tasmin Archer song as sound track where there was a plot device of a satellite falling to earth and mass exoduses from different regions as they came under threat - it wan't the main story but was in the background - google is not helping me - can any nice peeps help out?I think....0

LydiaJ How is your solar performing?
I'm pleased with it, thanks.
Obviously September isn't the ideal month for it, but here's some data so far:
Peak power: 3.924 kW
Best day so far: 17.434 kWh (pays £7.82)
Total yield over 17 days since commissioning: 196.1 kWh (pays £87.95)
Mean daily yield so far: 11.54 kWh (pays £5.17)
I can't estimate the probable effect on my electricity bills yet, because the new meter (that doesn't go backwards) was only fitted this morning.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? All has been revealed.
Friend's surprise birthday party this weekend, and Mrs HM rightly assumed I'd forget to put it in the fridge, so did it before she left.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

What goes round comes round
In this case, what goes around comes down?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
