Watched some re-runs of Come Dine With Me this week (keeping old company/exposing them to new TV experiences).... there was one which was simple/lovely, which was a medallions of venison. The venison bits were nice and meaty looking - they sealed them in a frying pan, then shoved them in the oven for awhile.
Venison is lovely .... I've had it about twice, during the 60s/70s, on Xmas Day. My nan was well-connected down the cattle market, so used to be able to come away with several bags of various meats/birds for Xmas Day/Boxing Day for probably thruppence.0 -

My sister and I were given a Spectrum 128K for Christmas that year, and when I was 12, I got an Amiga 500 as a Christmas present.
So all my GCSE coursework etc was word processed and printed.
I'm worried too many of us are being described in this article!

I'm sorry but that picture of the loo reminded me of a very naughty body part...or a wriggly worm.
Think my brain is in naughty mode tonight......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

DS knows what they are now, but a few years ago he saw one for the first time - we were watching an episode of Jeeves & Wooster. He looked a bit puzzled and asked if it was some kind of computer.More boring drivel from me...as you know, this is the bath I am having in the ensuite:
No no, you are not boring. I love reading about what other people are doing to their houses, especially when there are pictures and/or floor plans.
I share PN's concerns about that bath, though. I like to be able to have everything to hand when I am in the bath or shower. In fact I've recently bought one of these to get put up when I have my shower fitted over my bath soon.I then want to have a wall hung toilet and basin but I am not sure what design to go for - does anyone think this would go?
A friend of mine lives in a rented house that has ones that look just like that. I expect they looked great when they were first fitted, but the seats have come loose on both of them now. Last time I was there I noticed the problem and looked to see if I could put it right. With a normal loo I would just have tightened the screws underneath, but with these I couldn't see what to do - there was nowhere to get at any fixings - so I just left them wobbly.lostinrates wrote: »is it time for a swap again soon? Your children really are very beautiful.
Actually, lydia's kids are delicious too, beautiful little beings.
Aww lir, you say the nicest things. DD has been asking when we are going to see you again.Once I have got my builder to stop postponing things and actually come and finish my work, you must come and visit us here as we discussed.
michaels - is the child in your new avatar the same child as in your old avatar, or somebody different?
ETA Just to make it clear - my avatar is not a picture of me.
Finally, for those following the story of my solar panels (they're PV ones, fc, not solar thermal) here's the update. The scaffolders came while I was out at work and took all the scaffolding down. Today has been grey and gloomy all day, with the only sunshine occurring late in the afternoon when the sun was too low in the sky to be very effective. Peak power for the day was down to 3.218kW, and energy generated also down, to 6.9kWh. Still, 6.9kWh earns me £3.09 today, in addition to having decreased my bills, so not bad for such a grey day.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I missed this story..is there a link and what was it about?

For my birthday, Isaac painted a plate for me, which was then fired and given to me. I've had to put it somewhere subtle, as everyone who looks at it does a double-take.
it's a pink rocket. DS made a 3D rocket at school out of the usual cardboard tubes and yoghurt pots and things. It is red, and also has two rocket boosters at one end. He is very proud of it because it won second prize in the class competition, but I'm afraid my thoughts on seeing it were much the same as your thoughts about Isaac's plate.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? You look about 17 judging by your avatar. Michaels looks about 6
:D
Ah, you see, I'm playing sneaky games. Or lazy as hell. Either way, I was pregnant when that photo was taken, so it was 7 years ago, and I was 26 then, now 33.
I'm blessed with two drop-dead gorgeous sisters. My brother's OK too. But every family needs a plain member!
Isaac definitely got all my family's good looking genes - and not any of OH's in colouring, at least. My family's all fair haired and blue eyes, OH is pretty dark....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
