you can do it as a deep bore hole, rather than as a shallow wide thing. we'll probably have a mixture of those two, using the driven foundations for borehole ground source, and then the more traditional sort elsewhjere.

edit: RE air source we discounted them not on results (some looked alright I'm told ) but because of the look and the potential noise.....I'm quite noise sensitive, especially to low level white noises/buzzes)

You also have to think about how you use heating. we don't like a hot house and will have supplemnetry stuff like fires/woodburners....without them some of these new sources are not that warm, for people who like tropical heat they might not be sufficient...plus, the ground source gets less efficient as the cold months go on I think.

btw, did you like the architect? Ours comes from not so far from you....nearer ytou than me, so if you want a recommendation I'd be happy to give it to any nice people with a penchant for home development. :)

More boring drivel from me...as you know, this is the bath I am having in the ensuite:

I am then going to tile with some white carrara marble floor tiles and similar (ceramic not marble wall tiloes) with some 'inverse' black with white veining highlight tiles. I then want to have a wall hung toilet and basin but I am not sure what design to go for - does anyone think this would go?

I can only imagine those baths looking good if there is plenty of space around it like in the picture, so it depends on the size of your en suite.

I'm not sure about mixing ceramic and marble in the same bathroom, i have two marble and one ceramic but not mixed. The marble looks more classy but the ceramic is not so cold underfoot. The ideal would be marble with underfloor heating.

I didn't go for wall hung toilets as they need to be bolted onto something secure and not just plasterboard walls. I did get behind the wall cisterns, wall mounted push button flush and soft closing seats.

Whatever you do, don't make it too fashionable as it will just go out of fashion in a couple of years.

Gound source no go as we don't have enough ground :( and reading about air source, seems the claims on how much energy they produce is exgagerated by the sellers. Good thread on green forum about them.

You could always tap off Lydia. She wont notice as she doesn't know if her meter is coming or going :D

I think I look about my age. My mother's nearly 3 years older than my Dad, but looks younger.

You look about 17 judging by your avatar. Michaels looks about 6 :D:D

I said this right in the beginning, and agree. But I think michaels isn't having any of it!

My parents have always had marble and/or ceramic in white/grey/some black so I'ma bit biased against it...it feels a bit ''80s'' to me, which is fine. It can look really chic.

I personal think its ok for things to date so long as they are a bit classy like. One of the best hotel experiences we had was a lastminute secret hotel which was a hotel which was obviuously THE place to go in the seventies. It was very deluxe, but very dated. it was really fab and felt truely built to last and I badly wanted an afghan and a floppy hat.

Where do you put your shampoo, conditioner, soap, flannel, new/unopened shampoos that you might need next time, old/abandoned shampoos that are still half empty??

There's no room to put stuff down at all ....

nice in general. I think I have supper sorted.....months with an r are back, so shellfish friday. :)

I am a bit stuck on new ideas..asked OH and he came out with the usual 'treats' list (from a male perspective )
I tried to find you a YT to make DH laugh.....did anyone else see Mr Paparazzis stomach on BB? It is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Saw it the 1st time on hols and couldn't stop laughing.....but meany Ch 5 seem to have blocked all uploads and I can't find one for you.

I really liked his approach and he seemed very on the ball plus honest. We need to do a lot (but we can pace it doing chunks as and when we can face doing it and money available). He gave us new ideas as OH has trad building experience and I feel we could benefit from newer ways of doing things combined with the good trad ways.

    His name is Russell.....

The bore hole probably wouldn't be practical either as we have hardly any land at all......he didn't think it would be good but the woodburner got the thumbs up.:)

We are off to The Home Improvement Show @ Earls Court on 30 sept....tragic I know but I can't wait :D. I have waited for 16 years to do this work....the same work we wanted to do when we bought her.

I will stroke triple glazed units filled with gas and sigh breathily.

I can't answer the marble/ceramic questions ... I've probably never seen either. My bathroom in my last house had a couple of carpet samples on the floor, which was chipboard, (the ones that come in books, then they give them away when they're out of date) and the bathroom in this house is a 1970s coloured suite, with matching bad taste tiles and short tuft carpet (from the same era).

concealed/built in touch panel cabinets. which, though they look the bizz, are a PITA and the touch open/close system often fails.

What about "olympic"? Five circles worked in here and there, discrete and bold .. maybe capped sleeves made of 5 rings .... or 5 rings banded down, alone or thin bands down one plain other colour.

As you can tell ... I have only EXCEEDINGLY naff ideas, but I like to feel I contribute :)

Edit: just realised you were on about food, not dresses :)
