In school the academic stream weren't allowed to do 'O' level computing. I was the first year of 'A' level computing. BBC machine computers from memory. programming in CECIL and BASIC.
First uni I took computing as my subsidiary subject and learnt programming in PASCAL.

FC123 better watch out (FC get it
) What is going on here?
Arsenal have finally earned their first win of the season, but it's not an on-pitch victory: the club has won a court case in Spain forcing the owner of a hat shop to change the name of her premises.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.

Pascal does, and is still a teaching language (not as common as it used to be, but still taught). There is a branch called object pascal, which then became delphi... still used commercially today, and very similar.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My BiL's didn't. The inspector person liked what he'd done, agreed it was in keeping with the other conservation area propertiesand in no way offensive, but it wasn't exactly like the original plan, so he has to change it. He was badly advised. I had a feeling he should have re-submitted plans retrospectively, and it turns out I was right.
It will be OK, but it won't be as nice. Making it nicer cost extra, so now, making it not so nice again will cost some more.0 -

.
It wasn't offered as an a level or anything at my school, just those classes and a separate exam in weirdness.
Oh, and a test where you had to plug a computer into the wall, connect the vdu to the tower etc. I remember angst from others over that. Ours at home was colour coded, and I remember my dad being terribly excited about colour coding wires.0 -
Washing machine...my new one is a cold water feed, but I have a hot and cold tubey thing from the old one plumbed in. This is a stupid question but what do I do with the hot hose? Is there something you buy to cap in off or something?
Hmm. Just after a post about colour coding wires this doesn't read as very bright!0 -

Oh for a herd of elk to eat my fallers! I have something like half a tonne of apples waiting to come down, but we're too busy processing the plums ATM.
Think I'll ring the cider company on Monday. They might want some for cider vinegar or something.
I wish I liked cider, but I had too many evenings as a 14 year old, drinking scrumpy served from the back door of the Tiverton Inn at 1/6 (7.5p) a quart ......
Oh we won't go there... Let's just say I hate the stuff!0 -

Was it a retrospective planning meeting then?0
