This< is a good start.
Used to stay there a lot.
Loved the cocktail bar on the top floor, and they had a great Argentinian steakhouse in those days, no idea if it's still there.
Watched the Red Arrows practicing their display just offshore at room window height before the Dubai Airshow. Superb.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I can see that Dubai has amazing hotels, but isn't the area characterless?
You could shove those hotels anywhere hot and get the same experience.
<sings> This could be Rotterdam, or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome... <stops singing, cats wander off>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It's a fake place, with no real history or existance. It's full of fake things such as ski-ing domes. And it won't let my OH and son in at all, because they hold Israeli nationality.
I have never been and would never want to....but I'm glad it exists for people who want it. A bit like how I feel about Chessington World of Adventures.
As a matter of interest how are muslims treated when visiting Israel?0 -

Suspiciously. But there's not a blanket ban....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
To the south its only pink and blue though....like an undecided nursery
We have been getting a lot of purple skys recently.......have you noticed ?.
Other times it's all greyish pinkish pastels, just like home decor in the 80's.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Loved the cocktail bar on the top floor,
..sipping a Bellini in the Rainbow Room on the top floor of the Rockefeller Building used to take some beating.
Of course the skyline has changed a little since 2001, and the place closed down last year so memories will have to suffice 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Molineux on saturday?
Don't they make Toasters ??'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

We all have our reasons for liking or disliking a place.
It doesn't feel fake when your there, unlike Florida and indoor ski slopes are common world wide. even in the UK0 -

Actually, not all of florida feels fake. I've seen grim gun crime near tourist areas in Florida and real florida too. Both are a long long way from the''small, small world''.0 -

Nohad a lot of grey skies here. And lots of peach. Sadly the light pollution to the northwest of here impacts heavily at times.
Looking to the south now its soft bluish mauvish but night, you'd turn a light on, out the other direction its light still...fading, but pale blue and peach now.
