  • Glad you had fun with your parents on Xmas Day!!!

Ratuki seems like a really good game, we love card games - our favourite is Uno at the moment.

DD got Don't Panic board game which we have played - it is really good, I did wonder why you would panic thinking abour categories but then once you start playing the ticking of the timer just seems to add to the panic!!!!

You don't seem to have mentioned OH, is that because he has to work over Xmas or has he been on best behaviour??

  • Sorry Moo if I offended you. I was only asking as I know that sometimes his drinking is heavy and can cause friction even on Xmas Day so it was lovely to see what a nice day you had had and that got me wondering.

    Sorry.

    No offense caused EE.

Simply taking the view that if I can't say something nice about OH I just won't mention him. After all no one really wants to know that he found it funny to take photos of the slumbering grandparents and e-mail them out with very offensive captions. Nor does anyone else care that he spent x-mas eve (post my tidying blast) fitting architrave round a doorframe thats been architraveless for 8 or so years resulting in sawdust in the kitchen and on the staircase and the bedrom..... nor even more bizarely that he chose to make me a gift of a bottle of spirit. Seems everytime I think I''m getting through to him he does something to confirm that nothings changed.

That aside Christmas Day was great, the DDs loved all their gifts and are currently rocking away (badly) in front of the telly box. I'm enjoying a day of peace in anticipation of the sheer magnitude of excitement when DD1s friend comes for a sleepover tomorrow.

  • Hi Moo, sorry to hear OH is still behaving like a thoughtless eejit :(

I think taking the stance of if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it is fine - as long as it is not getting you down. If it is, and you don't feel you have anyone to talk to, then I think you should vent away on here as sometimes, it makes things seem easier to bear (I certainly did this the other day venting on the families board about DD - lots of lovely advice and I felt much better :D)

Good luck for the sleep over, DD isnt quite at that stage yet (thank god!)
    Just keep swimming!

Aw don't worry. I'm incapable of keeping my mouth shut when stuff is really annoying me. For the time being I really couldn't give a stuff, especially when every single thing is someone elses fault.

Was rudely awoken at 5:45am by him stomping around the boudoir. Turns out that charging his phone because the battery was flat wasn't sufficient, had I told him it was flat and turned it back on after it had charged then he'd have known that he had the option not to go in until lunchtime today.... as it was its someone elses fault that he didn't know that it was turned off and so didn't know that he had a message telling him that this was an option. Every little thing is like that. Its at the point where you know before something happens that its going to be wrong because of something someone else said or did or didn't do or say.

Its simply making me more determined to find a way out of this mess sooner rather than later.

Still onto more uplifting things. DD1 is already up and tidying in readiness for her friends arrival. Turns out that whilst DD1 got clothes and books for Christmas her friend (aged 12) got an Iphone4s and a laptop (to replace last years old out of date one) and several hundred pounds Christmas money to spend. Funniest bit is DD1 hasn't a clue what an Iphone is nor why she'd need a phone to tell her where the nearest McDonalds is which is apparently the hippest thing about it to date.

DD2 has made me promise that she can have extra biscuits for putting up with them if they're really annoying. Think its going to take more than biscuits to get through the next 36 hours.

Spent yesterday virtual sales shopping but didn't buy anything. Wasn't in the mood which is just as well really. Already have x-mas gift clothes to take back and more stuff than I need festering in the wardrobe. Going to attempt to get through the next six months without any clothing purchases with the exception of shoes for the DDs. Need to have another wardrobe cull as DD2 has grown again, alhough theres tons of DD1s old stuff for her to grow into and she got a ridiculous number of clothes for Christmas. She did get a huge pile of v. interesting books which I'm itching to start on as soon as shes finished.

Kick up the bum of the day no.1
    • Need to grab a shower
    • Put clean washing up away
    • Unload dishwasher
    • Reload dishwasher
    • Put all recycing in bin
    • Clean oil off worktop and tiles (why the !!!! OH purchased a deep fat fryer eludes me)
    • Figure out where to put the sodding deep fat fryer
    • Persuade DD2 to eat the last advent calendar choclate (kid has far too much willpower)
    • Chuck advent calendar
    • Clear remaining kitchen worksurfaces
    • Mop kitchen floor
    • Vac hall, stairs and landing
    • Do one load of washing
    • Put the dregs of yesterdays washing in the drier
    • Load car for a tip run (assuming they're open)
    • Quick degrot of bogs and sinks
    • Sort bed in DD1s room for friend
    • Swep floors downstairs
    • Put away books that I lugged downstairs in the hopes of selling to WeBuyBooks but couldn't because at 7p a title it takes a heck of a lot to get to the minimum payout of £15
    • Trek to post box with hounds and brats in tow to post credit card payments (yes yes I'm a dinosaur)
    • Iron and put away all laundry
    • Reboil sloppy grapefruit marmalade
    • Put stuff destined for E-bay onto E-bay
and achieve this by 10:30am. Fat chance!

  • Wow Moo!!!

I reckon I could do all that in a couple of days never mind a couple of hours!!!!

My brother is pooping round today as it is my birthday and all I am doing is sitting on here thinking that I should really tidy up but then I think Xmas is a good excuse as the children are still playing with the presents hence the mess.

Well, it sounds to me that you had a good one overall. If it helps to know I deal with the "other peoples fault" syndrome sometimes and it is usually caused by a bout of the black dog....... might be worth knowing as it helps me to cope now that I spot it and I do the same as you...... deep breaths and ignore because it is all hot air most of the time.

Now, what is that list all about.... its still the holidays! Mind, I have friends coming on New Year so my list is going to be like that in a couple of hours. First...... mooch around catching up with a cup of tea and then take my hound out.

  • Morning moo.

Well, that list does look impressive - though I think you've missed a few critical activities:
    • Quiet cuppa;
    • 15 mins to myself; and
    • Eating chocolate while ignoring everyone around me
Personally, if I actually make it off the sofa and through the shower today, I'm going to consider it an achievementy (is too a word) day!:rotfl:
